Friends got us this adorable cookie tin in Brittany featuring a very traditional Breton mother. I feel keeping #sewing thread in it definitely shows “mam-goz (old mother) attitude.“

When you come from the most beautiful region of France and you fly one of the most beautiful French aircraft, there is something to be proud of. The Mirage IV 57/CD in the colours of Brittany, decorated for the dissolution of the 2/91 'Bretagne' bomber squadron in 1996.

Times said the Cornish, Irish, and Welsh languages were too far gone too - they were wrong then, and they're wrong now.

I go to Brittany often, I've been in several museums and things where displays were duo-lingual Breton and French. I even understood some of it as it's very similar to Cornish.

In 1979, I spent a couple of weeks on student exchange in Brittany.

My counterpart spoke only French. Her parents spoke French and understood Breton, while her grandparents only spoke Breton, but understood French.

When I asked why this was, they practically spat, “DeGaulle”. 😒

Brittany is a French region, yet isn't, it was once a Celtic country with its own culture & history. My roots.

My maternal grandmother's stories of her childhood inspired my novel 'Laundry Day'.

Her silence inspired a CNF published by @frazzledlit.bsky.social

A new documentary, Championnes, shines a light on the pioneering women footballers of Ploufragan in Brittany, charting the rise of a factory team formed by female workers at Chaffoteaux in 1970 who went on to become French champions in 1989.

I've missed #TombTuesday again, but as this morning I'm looking into representations of the Table des Marchands, Locmariaquer, on behalf of a French colleague, here's a charming ink on tracing paper sketch by one of the Lukis family, mid 19th century #Brittany #archaeology 🏺

Anne of Brittany, born 25 January 1477: by means of calculated marriages to two successive French kings, Charles VIII and Louis XII, she preserved Brittany’s autonomy for a time; yet those unions ultimately ensured its absorption into the French crown after her death at 36.
