Okay, so let’s take it from the top. Lion el Jonson is the guy who firebombed a Walmart and got away with it. Everyone knows it was him but nobody can prove anything and is too scared to investigate further after the first people who asked questions disappeared.

People will tell you that the left has lost touch with society, but the expected next tory leader is nostalgic for football hooliganism, and the political editor of the Express is calling for MPs to be deported.

Gill and co sure do seem to hang out with people on one side of the political spectrum a lot.

Past/present WSI members have appeared at the far right Gen Z networking conference Scyldings, attended Tommy Robinson rallies, had jobs at VoxPopuli Media, and have been positively RT'd by Edward Dutton.

Weird that the WSI seems almost exclusively to be being promoted by Reform in multiple council events now, despite Jess Gill telling me that they work "with politicians across the political spectrum"

Marvin stared at the painting of his great grandfather, who had survived two wars, worked three jobs to support his fourteen children, and eventually died saving a box full of kittens from a fire, and thought to himself, "You know, if I knocked that over, I could sleep on it."
Women bishops took much longer to happen, though (Wales allowed them first despite lagging over women's ordination).
Environmental historians of China now have to take dragon sightings literally, not just seriously.

(Though it does depend on the kind of magic that exists!)
Ngl, I am very confused about the readings of Jonah that focus on the correctness or otherwise of its depiction of whale biology as the most important thing about it.
Iirc it's the one where the Devil is like "aha, Jesus, you have fallen into my clutches in accordance with my keikaku! Wait, this situation has not developed entirely to my advantage...", but the name escapes me.

(I think it's just an apocryphal gospel; it makes too much sense to be Gnostic one.)
A lot of this is downstream of a deliberate reaction against Biblical studies and criticism during the late 19th and early 20th century which has consequences for how they see things like evolution. It's a comparatively recent thing, and you're probably right about the bad faith it creates.
(The recieved version of Thomas Huxley's argument with the bishop has more to do with Huxley engaging in a bit of, ah, self-mythologising for polemical and professional reasons than how the discussion actually went down.)
Hell, the lines of discourse in Britain at the time weren't clearly divided along religious lines -- as you'd expect since the evidential question wasn't fully settled until the neo-Darwinian synthesis in the early 20th century.
Going to be weird when they look into the early history of Darwininism in the US (strongest early proponent a devout Christian, strongest early opponent not).

If anyone's wondering how this is possible, the answer is these strike teams are moving terrifyingly fast. Grab first, ask questions later. We were about 8-15 minutes behind them today for several hours. They're jumping out of vans, chasing people across lawns, taking them from bus stops, etc
30 people disappeared in this shaded area today.

What we are seeing is that uk politics without a viable center right party is a shit show.

only way to save the British right is for 500,000 broadly normal professionals and homeowners to join the Tory party.

Calling on all utilitarians and consequentialists: your duty is clear.

Another day, another guest post for the Sanguinary Utnapishtim! This one (sherdenpact.neocities.org/GuestPostRel...) by returning author @williameburns.bsky.social who has really got The Vibe here by thinking through: what would Khornite disaster relief look like? And concluding: absolutely absurd.

Cocoa supplies have been hit by poor harvests caused by climate change.

The slogan “If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit, join our club” is a victim of man’s addiction to fossil fuels.

This is in fact an effect of climate change
