When I started on the concept draft, the loss of spaces in Singapore was something that was on my mind. At that time, the closure of The Projector, an independent cinema in Singapore, was still pretty fresh. The last event I attended at The Projector was the Singapore Independent Media Fair in July 2025. I constructed the scene based on amalgamated impressions from photos of the independent media fair online. Clear references to the cinema were included, such as hints of the giant “The Projector” sign on the windows, and the framed movie posters on the window sill. I took some creative liberty with the colours as I wanted an illustration that felt luminous, and I gravitated towards blues, greens, and yellows. I also added pops of orange and pink as accents. The movie posters were inspired by real posters with similar colours: Wong Kar Wai’s Happy Together, and Jafar Panahi’s Taxi Tehran. mekongreview.com/susbcribe

Don’t wanna be a bummer, but I will. What “hate symbols” are can change on a whim and an announcement. What extreme groups use as images can change with a few posts. Laws like this are performative and hollow. They ignore the root cause of anti social viewpoints.

Took me 2 months to finish the Indonesian version of "A Political Biography of the Indonesian Lesbian, Bisexual, and Trans Movement." It opens with queer elements in cultural aspects before tracing the movement/visibility from colonial era to post-independence, New Order regime, and after. #Booksky

Honestly, the most surprising thing about the Epstein files to me was how open they were about it.

For all the talk about "turns out QAnon was right" in QAnon the cabal was supposedly hiding cryptic messages on furniture websites. In reality they just outright said what they were doing.

Luxury Roman scent bottles made of gold-band mosaic glass. 1st century AD.

This opulent glass was made by encasing strips of gold leaf between layers of colourless glass.

Beautiful example of the skill of ancient glassmakers some 2,000 years ago!

My photo shows two Roman gold-band mosaic glass bottles on display at the Met Museum. Made of mosaic patterned translucent cobalt blue, turquoise green, and opaque white glass, together with gold leaf encased in colourless glass. Both bottles have round bodies, flat bases, and cyclindrical necks with horizontal everted rims. The larger bottle on the left is 10.5 cm tall, the smaller bottle on the right is 4.8 cm tall. They are displayed on a clear glass shelf against a light beige background. According to the museum label: “Gold-band cast glass was a particularly opulent type of early Roman glassware. It combines canes of brightly colored translucent and opaque glass with strips of gold leaf encased between layers of colorless glass. Only a limited number of vessel shapes were made in this way, and some of the most common are small globular or carinated bottles such as these. They were presumably used to store expensive cosmetics and perfumes”.
