The classic argument that you can't shout fire in a crowded theater only holds true if there's no fire.
If there is a fire, they often have alarms you can sound, even smoke detectors that sound alarms automatically.
As for harassment, Hammurabi set the precedent for fraud/perjury: go jump in a lake!

Defenders of free speech often omit vast categories of abuses of speech.

UCLA here acknowledges harmful speech, but not whether speech is truthful.
Threats may be true, but still abuse, but there's no protection for false statements. Fraud's precedent is Hammurabi!

Hammurabi was the original copywriter of law.

He ruled Babylon c. 1792–1750 BCE and released “282 laws” etched in stone. They covered everything—trade, family disputes, medicine, even wages. (https://www.history.com/articles/hammurabi)

Was it simply governance—or political theater?

It is continuation and revival of old laws. Hammurabi was to rule "to prevent the strong from oppressing the weak."

I believe this one was part of the Cleric kick I’d been on at the time. Deity Disfavor always kind of bugs me when it’s left Nebulous or without an “Out.” I enjoy the ones that discretely constrain PCs or lead to those little “Mini-Quests”

52 – Footloose

D eity Disfavor is a Class Feature that doesn’t receive a ton of attention. One can infer a few potential concrete triggers for this from ...

Just throwing it out there, they could be traveling in some kind of medium-sized JAG-outfitted vessel named the "USS Hammurabi."

And then name the shuttles after, like, other historic jurists. Darrow, Marshall, etc.

Code Of Hammurabi is back on the menu, boys.
"they should make women cheating illegal" Yes, we should stone them to death as is described in ancient Bronze Age law, that will put to rest once and for all the fears that cishet men are turning into soyboy betacucks.

Debt forgiveness is an interesting an ancient tradition. See eg Hammurabi. A middle Eastern idea, which means it's civilized and won't take off in the West.

Fun fact: in 1700 BCE a king named Hammurabi decide to stop making the law up as he went along, and he wrote one of the first legal codes listing crimes, simple evidence rules, and punishments.

He placed the Code of Hammurabi on many stele (pillars) around the kingdom

Found a chart similar to what I had read before: the Latin letter A was influenced by a Brahma script that looks more like our “K”

If you throw in the Code of Hammurabi, it’s one more way Western culture is actually Eastern; we just didn’t learn it at school

Like how people shit all over the Code of Hammurabi just because it's the one that's written down.

People out there right now are arguing that the founding fathers intended citizenship to be based on imperial Roman concepts. People will pull anything out of their ass to justify anything. Hammurabi said it! Must apply to airplanes too!

I saw someone comment "alive internet theory" on an 8 year old video, which feels like looking at the Code of Hammurabi and going "thank God the Babylonians are still ok"
