So, in case you later see bullshit about conflict between troops/ICE/cops & protesters in DTLA just now - the protesters did nothing. The assorted copfolk pushed forward & forced the protesters back, using riot shields & tear gas, to clear a path for a convoy of vehicles entering the facility.

We will not win the battle for democracy if those in the pro-democracy movement prize caution over taking risks. We cannot permit ourselves to be deterred by the defeats and public criticism that are inevitable along the long path of restoring democracy. Now is the time for fearless leadership.
The Survival of Democracy Depends on Our Willingness to Fight
Justice Riggs is right. We should not have to fight for democracy. But the reality is that we must.

The fundamental choice has not been as stark since World War II: democracy and freedom, or dictatorship and tyranny.

Trump and his sycophants are siding with the latter. The rest of us must loudly, proudly, and boldly proclaim our allegiance to the former.

NEW: China is switching from American to Canadian oil.

Chinese purchases of American oil are down **90%** year on year.

Purchases of oil from Canada are up +700%.

That equates to a $20 BILLION annual loss for the United States, at current oil prices.

Tired of winning yet?

I'm not a historian but my analysis is it's "Not good" when a government constantly commits crimes and tells the legislature, courts, and general public "What are you gonna do about it"

If you thought this administration cared about human trafficking, you might want to take a look at my column from last night.
"It's unclear whether immigration relief that permits undocumented people to remain in the U.S. while cooperating with criminal investigations and testifying in cases is still available."

Republicans are trying to gut life-saving programs like Medicaid and SNAP to give billionaires even more tax cuts. If you’ve got a GOP senator, demand that they reject Trump’s Tax Scam and stand up for the families they were elected to serve: act.indivisible.org/sign/no-cutt...

I promise y’all: marching in step is quite easy. Nothing difficult about it. That bad marching was intentional. I guarantee it.

500K Mexican-Americans served in the U.S. armed forces in WWII, as did millions of 1st and 2nd-gen immigrants, and 109K noncitizens.

Mexican immigrant Macario Garcia won the Medal of Honor in Normandy. When he returned to the US, he was was arrested for trying to eat at a segregated restaurant.

Academic freedom in the United States has found itself periodically under siege, but the current attacks from the federal government raise a new level of alarm. nyer.cm/u405qvQ

Paul Weiss has become a symbol for the disgrace of capitulation to Trump. The once proud firm has been ridiculed by Trump, criticized by judges, and has started losing partners.

Now the right-wing is looking to cash the check it wrote to pay off Trump. It may complain, but it will cave.

The executive branch doesn’t get to tell Congress how to do its work. It’s in the Constitution. Katy bar the door.
Breaking news:

DOGE is now targeting the Government Accountability Office, a congressional agency.

GAO is fighting back: "We are not subject to DOGE or executive orders."

@notusreports.bsky.social obtained the email detailing what's happening, sent just an hour ago.

Every day, we should all be asking the same questions of our political representatives and political reporters:

Has the president been removed from office yet because of his obviously broken brain? No? Why not?

Thank you so much for amplifying this.

Hundreds of people were abducted from their homes & workplace & sent to a lawless jurisdiction where torture is the modus operandi.

They had no trial, not even a hearing. Some are just kids like 19 year old Merwil Gutiérrez.

We must bring them ALL home!

More than 300 rural hospitals could close due to Trump/Republican Medicaid cuts.

Rural areas will also be hit especially hard by food stamp cuts.

And public broadcasting stations in rural areas could shut down if the Senate passes its rescission bill.

I thought Republicans loved rural America?

NPR just sued Trump over his unconstitutional executive order gutting federal funding for public media.

Kudos to them for standing up for the First Amendment. It reminds me of when Mr. Rogers stood up to Nixon's attempts to gut public broadcasting 56 years ago.

When President Johnson activated the Nat'l Guard in Alabama in 1965 over Gov. Wallace's objection he did it to protect protesters advocating for voting rights for Black people who had previously met violence at the hands of state troopers. Very different situation.

Florida: Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez (20) is being held in the Leon County Jail, charged with illegally entering Florida as an “unauthorized alien."

Lopez-Gomez is a U.S. Citizen, born in the USA. He showed his U.S. birth certificate in court. The judge held him in jail anyway.

This is Fascism.
