The gov shutdown and disruption of SNAP benefits increased food insecurity. To fight hunger, the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii Committee on Social Concerns donated $10,000 to food banks on O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui, and the Big Island.

Today the Midwest Buddhist Temple's Homeless Project reached a major milestone: 10 year anniversary! They celebrated by making and delivering 300 sandwich bags and countless warm clothing items to local shelters.

On Tuesday the Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin once again hosted the Nu'uana Valley Interfaith Thanksgiving service. Members of many different religious traditions gathered in the temple's hondo.

On Thursday, November 27 (6:30pm) the Toronto Buddhist Church (1011 Sheppard Avenue W) will hold another soup-packing event. This is to create ready-mix soup bowls with rice, lentils and seasonings for the less fortunate.
