#Liquidamber
Medium scale Liquidamber bonsai forest.
Mostly apex control now and removal of oversized leaves in places that shade out desirable ones.

Moss on this is also mostly self sustained making maintenance simpler.

Small scale Liquidamber bonsai forest. Getting a bit blown around this evening.

Moss has been very manageable this summer with the full canopy shading it well.

Liquidamber bonsai in training.

The liquidamber is being kept under control while leaving future options available for the new owner.

The Natal ficus is 👌

The evergreen alder has had large leaves removed and will have small buds shortly in time for a new owner.

Hope all keeps going well for you and your great work.

Fused trunk of 5 liquidamber #Bonsai in development.

Trimmed and large leaf removal.

Will look to start wiring in autumn to splay out the leaders out away from each other.

For me in North Auckland NZ liquidamber is more reliable for giving a range of autumn colour than maple in my opinion. Most of my liquidamber are 4 years old now & autumn colour seems to have improved. But from what I understand exposure to spme full sun in summer helps. I still get patchy results.

Yeah, for me, it was the forests and penjing scenes that captured me first and then the single trees.
Liquidamber was a great beginner's deciduous tree for me. I'm so glad I started them 5 or 6 years ago.

Medium scale Liquidamber #Bonsai forest.

Just trimmed large leaves and adjusted heights on some background trees.

Some Japanese maple/maple development bonsai I have on the go.
I only got into maples about 3 years ago as liquidamber and oaks were more readily available, deciduous options near me to propagate and grow on.

So don't have lots or any at advanced stages.

Here are 2 small ones.

Looks like my time on the weekend will involve large leaf removal from all liquidamber bonsai forests & singles.

Wind has gotten up through the day so indoor shot it is.

So this is what happened at my house at 7:30 am.
We had a severe windstorm recently, partially sheering some massive branches from a very tall Liquidamber tree (Sweet gum, Liquidambar styraciflua) in my garden. 😩 Poor tree, but it was too dangerous to ignore. A Big Thank you to SES...
