There are too many good people with powerful voices who stay silent because they think everything will eventually be OK & therefore it’s not worth the effort or the risk to speak out against the increasingly prevailing hate & division agenda. They’re wrong. They must speak out. And the time is now.

Great to see research on biomarkers for ME/CFS but the headline is premature IMO. Not clear what the test was validated against given there’s no gold standard.
What is needed -and can be achieved rn- is consensus on diagnostic criteria which may include -but not defined solely by- blood tests.
ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
There's a huge BUT coming ...🧵

Quite aside from all the moral and practical concerns around anti-immigration policies, there's no evidence that their implementation will make voters happier or government more able to focus on improving public services.

Make no mistake. This race-to-the-bottom political circus of racism & xenophobia is not only about unicorn future policies of discrimination & oppression. It’s about scaring & sickening us and making us give up on making this country fair & equitable. Take a break if you must but don’t let them win.

In fact this *understates* the point here.

Tory policy is not (just) to remove benefits but to remove ILR and deport, exactly like the Farage plan the PM correctly described as racist.
“Another part of the plan would limit benefits to people with UK citizenship, removing it even from those who have been in the country for years or even decades and have indefinite leave to remain”

If this is not xenophobia then I don’t know what is.
Sickening.

This is the time when these three truths need repeating over and over:

1. Racism is inexcusable.

2. Migrants are equal humans to non-migrants.

3. The right to protest is fundamental to democracy.
Worth a listen - almost irrespective of the cause, there are inconsistencies that suggest legislative overreach.
Vicars, grannies, blind people, those in wheelchairs all being physically carried away by police, one at a time after their rights are read… All for holding a placard.

…instead of the police being used to stop rape, burglary, domestic violence and theft. This farce has to break, surely.

The fat-tailed dwarf lemur (Cheirogaleus medius) is native to Madagascar, and is famous for two things:
1. The fat tail.
2. Sleeping (well, 'estivating') for up to 7 months of the year.

They're the only known primate that hibernates for extended periods.
