Weekend away time. The new LNWR trains are neat, definitely a rougher ride than the old ones but I'll take it given they're leccy (afaict).

Depends.if I get an idea or beat in my head for a neat combat loop or spooky ambience I’ll spend a couple of hours getting something scoped out just so I don’t forget. Normally though I like to have a track mostly done (outside of minor edits) before moving onto something else.

Going with vibes. An arrangement that looks disorganized, but there's a method to the madness. So basically what a lot of kitchens are going to look like today.
“Try not to mess up the tables. I spent a good chunk of the morning getting things properly organized.” It wasn’t a neat, orderly arrangement, but I’d seen enough offices and workbenches during my years of breaking and entering to know when someone was just piling random junk and when someone had a system. Now my reading had some ambience; the grinding of a mortar and pestle, burners igniting, leaves and petals being plucked all with the occasional puff of smoke. Said smoke was pulled towards some runes painted into the ceiling. It swirled like water going down a drain, then was absorbed into the wood. The discoloration of the wood was concerning, but I was going to trust Maxi’s expertise that they weren’t weakening the foundation of the house. It was an improvement; I got further into the work than just sitting by myself. But the next time I needed to take my eyes away from the text, I decided to try passing the time with a little more conversation.

Tried the demo. That was a neat little set-up! It almost takes a minimalist approach with the few sound effects and ambience, which builds tension in its own special way. I'm sure the full game takes that and elevates it to a new high!

I gotta say, I'm having the time of my life working on this little fanart project, Spark reflects a ton of personality with each form! Case in point: The Edgy Jester! Since some of the game levels involve a bit of dynamic lighting, and the Edgy Jester form already looks and moves like a ninja, I thought it'd be cool to put Spark in a dark scene, make it look like he's infiltrating and is about to attack! Gave me a neat excuse to practice particle effects and ambience lights, I also love how his expression changes depending on the power up, true to his TV host lore, he really takes in the persona of the costume he wears! I am quite happy with how this is turning out!

BUG! Bug research! For Bug WIP!

I think GOR and Bug WIP go well together. They both feature post-apocalyptic cities, tragic MCs, and I'm leaning towards also going for a defunct steampunk ambience for Bug city. I think robots and bug monsters both mimicking humans is a neat parallel :)

thing is though, the nes has grays. here's this bg with a different ff3 bg palette. if they wanted it gray they could have done this. that implies they intentionally chose orange and purple, and given you fight garuda at night in an ambush, it has a neat candlelit castle ambience that's missing

You can make the gating effect more intense by using the "reduce ambience" preset in Ableton's multiband. Sounds neat.

Owlbear is neat if you want a lighter, easier Roll20-style battlemap VTT with 3D dice rolling.
I left Owlbear to use a combo of Miro + Discord (w/ dice bots + kenku.fm for ambience/audio); I find Miro nicer for laying out all character sheets and visual aids in single window, and dont need the grid.

Finished Dead Take lol. Tight 5 hours. I'd say it's more spooky than scary. Pace is halting IMO because of the way live-action bits are incorporated. Puzzles have some neat ideas but solutions are a little too obvious for my tastes. Writing, (most) performances, visuals/environment/ambience all A++

Started Dead Take. Hollywood horror puzzle game with live-action segments? Yes please. Too early to get into much but it's clear right away that this game does vibes REALLY well.
A large, open, high-ceilinged living room with lots of plants, a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, two large sectional couches, and stairs leading to an open upper balcony space where a grand piano is visible. The lights are turned down very low and a red glow is visible through an open doorway at the far end of the room. A dimly lit private movie theater with lush red carpeting seating arrayed around and a centrally located armchair with a high back and a modern style. A bright spotlight shines down on the armchair. An open doorway leading into an empty room. Most of the room is dark and a closed door is visible across from the open doorway. In the brightly lit middle of the room sits a tarp with a dirty mattress on top of it. The mattress is topped with a pillow resting in the middle of a flowerprint blanket. Went to get a snow cone at a local place. It was around dusk and the lighting of the place mixed with the dusk ambience made it feel very “liminal space”-y to me. Took some neat low angle photos.

Sunrise flavored snow-cone at sunset the light on the stall was so strikingly different than the dusk sky giving a really interesting difference between foreground and background. This place has been open every summer since I was a kid, doesn’t feel like a summer well spent without going a few times. First time being here at dusk though I think.

Oh my gosh, I love this! The colors and composition are really lovely, and the spinning actually suits the piece really well. Especially since the star is upside down compared to me, which was a neat choice. I can easily imagine the "star chance" ambience playing over this. Thank you so much!

I’ve taken to recording my live sets on a little field recorder. It gets the ambience of the whole room and still sounds listenable mostly. Also way less intrusive than trying to hook anything up.

Kinda neat to hear when people get super excited too. :)
