Finally completed the parametric resonator for the beta design of my semaphore whistle.
So far the most important parameters in testing are
- Chamber Size 19mm
- Inlet Size 3mm
- Exit Constriction 20%
- Bypass Flow 20%
- Inlet Compression 50%
- Entrainment Angle 70*

This is just a concept to see if I can do it. I drew out my thoughts first, then imported the sketches in to OnShape. I've not modeled this loosely in a LOONG time, and CAD doesn't generally appreciate it. I know I'm getting ready for crash territory if I fully populate the interior.

For mechanical work, I use FreeCAD now for all the smaller widgets and gizmos, one or two parts, 2.5D toolpaths. I use Onshape for more complex assemblies and structural stuff. FreeCAD will catch up someday. Every year of waiting tastes sweeter without a subscription.

Anyone have some good resources for learning more advanced #3dcad? I've been playing around in #onshape for about a year now, and while I can design stuff to 3d print fairly well, I feel like I could do so much more if I had more of a proper education. #diy #3dprinting #cad

Why and how did this fix the magically broken split operation? I don't like this program and I really should move to something like Onshape but I still haven't got around to looking into them and their EULA.

I just came to the same conclusion and shifted everything over to Onshape. Now I’m coming to terms with my stuff being public. Super slowness, crashing on quit, super finicky file storage… I tried really hard to make it work, but nope, switching. It’s too bad, I started on AutoCAD back in the 90s 🤷♂️

I just came to the same conclusion and shifted everything over to Onshape. Now I’m coming to terms with my stuff being public. Super slowness, crashing on quit, super finicky file storage… I tried really hard to make it work, but nope, switching. It’s too bad, I started on AutoCAD back in the 90s 🤷♂️
