There’s probably an essay to be written about capitalism/marketing, artistic waves, and this book (paratext about which namedrops Gormenghast) as a collision between the New Weird and romantasy modes.

plus like 8 stars and 8 points and her previous use of numerology in her paratext (meaning that she's the kind of person to pay attention to the meaning of numbers of things)

I mean, I think it speaks to a few things:

1. The album's text is canny enough to sidestep (most) commentary on her wealth, it's more response to paratext than text or even theme.
2. Taylor can overmarket the damn thing all she wants, but it being the biggest comes from folks actually buying it.

Sometimes the paratext is more interesting than the text.

Doncs miri, avui circula un article d'Adrià Targa que passa (de llarg) per aquest tema i no ho sé, eh. Vull dir que potser la signatura és un paratext, segons com t'ho miris.

3/4 STET, Lover

Counterfeit corpus; paratext primacy; forgiveness as emery; marginal grace; blue STET; talismanic crossings; errant proofs. [3] I rasp your misprinted name until it reddens; then STET — do not change; keep the wound; the paper fakes neutrality.

Yes, it is readable as the sun being the dish isn't it! It's definitely about St Enda's, paratext makes it clear, but I can't see something that corresponds in the pictures of the pageants alas

is there, uh, precedent for this kind of playing with paratext in judicial opinions? honestly did not occur to me that the space above the box made of dashes could be in play
hi, federal judge expert here! this is not funny. conservative, Reagan-appointed district judges only use epistolary framing devices in their opinions when they are in extreme distress.
the postcard cited in judge young's ruling isn't just at the top, it's a framing device. the whole opinion is a letter to the postcard writer. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Dunno if this interest in paratext and metatext is a function of the genre of childrens books, toddlerhood, or parental interest

My social media feed is basically the news headline paratext from a John Brunner novel:

President declares war on anti-fascist hotbed of Oregon

Radioactive shrimp recall expanded

Plastic found in living human bone marrow

Cracker Barrel controversy generated by programmed bots

*sorry that should be paratext, not metatext, I really hate how paratextual relationships are treated as a "wow this fixed it!" with the void conflict series

that makes 1. Outside sound more adventurous than it truly is— it's also an album that's better in theory and surrounded by paratext than it is in actuality. i love it, but it's too long and not weird enough to be coherent. it's a mess but sublime. i can't argue for a single song to be cut.

The last thing that made me paused: digitizing EU documents with dots ocr the 1.7B vlm and… it’s essentially solved. Footnotes, captions, running title, paratext. More reliable overall than Gemini, only struggling at time with hard tables/forms.

this is imprecise and slogan-y but i'm feeling like a useful observation about some games is this:

sometimes the difficulty is text, not paratext

-La Crítica hauria de servir -també- per saber, diguem, si el llibre ha arribat a algun lloc o no.
-I quin. I com. Però demanes molt.
-Només que cadascú faci la seva feina.
-País anormal el nostre. Demana't un paratext sincer i acabaràs abans.

with gaster/the goners/etc undertale introduced within me a very deep fascination with the paratext or wrapper around a core work, as well as reminding me that those things aren't necessarily any higher-up on the scale than how *you* choose to feel about its actual world and its characters
