Imagine if the government just released everyone being held on remand accused of violent crimes because they didn’t eat for a bit

Unemployment compensation – Misconduct
Where a police officer who was discharged for the use of excessive force in subduing a prisoner was denied unemployment benefits, a remand is necessary because of insufficient findings regarding whether the officer committed misconduct.

Peaceful UK anti-genocide protestors - some on hunger strike for weeks while being held on remand - in serious health danger now. Recalling the effect of the 1981 Maze Prison hunger strikes in Ireland - it's clear that Zionist forces don't know what they've done.

Only 9 years. 5 were coalition years.

I don't remember political prisoners starving on remand, or a genocide against trans people, but the memory plays tricks, doesn't it?

This would be an elegant basis for the en banc court to vacate the panel's order, remand to Judge Boasberg, and direct that future appeals should be heard by a randomly assigned panel.
In addition, if you need additional briefing on a legal question, that is a good indicator that you should not grant a writ of mandamus!!
Gobsmacked. Reminder that judges' inherent powers to hold parties in contempt long predates the DOJ.

The British state has a long history of allowing hunger strikers to die. It never ends well. This case is particularly nasty - they're on remand, convicted of nothing.

Why should people on remand be able to secure their release by voluntarily not eating? I find it all deeply weird.

Wrap her up and remand her to ICC

Utterly inhuman, appalling if done to someone convicted, but Qesser Zuhrah is on remand, ie to be presumed innocent unless proven guilty! What has happened to any moral integrity in this country.

Would prisoner officers spontaneously behave nastily towards Palestine Action prisoners on remand or were they asked to do so? I am not sure which is the more disturbing behaviour.
December 14, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Agreed. Your rights are what our SCOTUS says they are. After a trial, an appeal, a remand, another appeal, and so on and so forth. If you have that kind of time and money and don't mind getting shipped to any place in the world other than Canada after you have been tortured, then knock yourself out.

On remand for more than a year based on a proscription that everyone knows shouldn't exist. It does exist because the people in power are war criminals who don't obey the very laws they swear to uphold.

Solidarity with the Palestine Action Hunger Strikers.
