since everything uses the same engine you could probably make it work between different games too, which would be even more stupid. rm2k cross-game powerscaling

Natürlich, habe IRdH, schon damals zum Release durchgespielt. Da ich aber seit neustem ein Steam Deck besitze gehe ich gerade nochmal all meine liebsten RM2k/3 durch ;-)

Still reeling from when RPG Advocate called my RM2K game 'newbie crap' on the Don Miguel RM2K forum in 2000 or 2001.

He was right though, it was objectively terrible and just used the rtp graphics and everything.

I should have kept working on my Star Trek TNG rpg after that though.

ele com certeza é o melhor console pra se jogar pico8 nativamente hj em dia (é linux), ainda mais que agora tem ele tanto com design vertical quanto horizontal

hacked the easyrpg player to remove those pesky exp indicators from the menu for games that don't actually use exp.. realizing it's actually pretty easy to do bullshit like this now so rm2k/3 mutuals hit me up if you want little custom engine edits or whatever

the lurking irony here is that i do actually have a monstrous collection of unorganized midis from downloading random songs off vgmusic dot com to see how they sound and if they loop right so i can use them in rm2k/3 projects

everyone should read this to learn neat rm2k/3 stuff but then also play ruina fairy tale of the forgotten ruins (also linked within this thread). in that order. or you can do it the other way around i'm not picky here just play ruina. thank you.

(i do share your excitement for the distance and damage minimums stuff, that's very clever.. between ruina and nepheshel i feel like early 2000s devs were really milking the full potential out of the default rm2k mechanics)

To recap, in rm2k/3, by default you can only set Physical and Magical Rates out of 10. 10/10 for Phys means the same as a normal attack, or using half your ATK stat. 10/10 for Magical means using a quarter of your INT. this is why magic in some rm2k/3 games feels bad, though there's ways around it

rm2k/3 actually determines BOTH the physical AND the magical element separately, THEN MULTIPLIES THEM.

this opens a huge potential for damage formula shenanigans.

what Ruina does with this are three very cool things.

anyway because rm2k/3 normally halves your INT's effect on spell damage compared to ATK (the old dq style wants you focus on base power or w/e), my guide passive-aggressively gave some ways to overcome this and make the stats feel more modern.

karsu was wondering if ruina did anything like that.
