Simultaneously... I need to learn a bit because it could be possible to have the viewer change automatically the stream, or have the server so that on a per-viewer basis using their config serverside..

just doesn't feel like skipping one header on the client and targeting the url straight at the app server is a DX benefit big enough to justify ceding control from infrastructure the user controls to opaque (unchangeable!) territory of the future adversary, even if u do get to do serverside RYOW

Had an absolute blast at @serversideswift.info this week!
I’m very glad that I didn’t realise that folks who built the App Attest framework covered by my talk were in the audience until AFTER my talk 👀😅 (thanks for the photo @tracymiranda.bsky.social!)

I remember there was that mod that changed your island to any instance that was banned for being detectable serverside, but wasn't there one that used an inn room...? is that still a thing??

you can use github pages if you're okay with everything being open source! only limitations are cross origin stuff (and no serverside stuff)

thoughts on ffxiv blacklist changes in the 7.2 prelim patch notes: if the blacklist is saved serverside (I think it is?), but the mutelist is saved clientside (that's 100% confirmed), that makes sense that the mutelist is being reset but blacklist is just having the (clientside saved) notes broken

We already know the serverside stuff we want and the clientside stuff we'll give to you optionally.
In fact, we already got bedrock compat and our auth server running, we only need to integrate it with the Fediverse and to do some adjustments once the VPS is here

also, on the actual bullshit the exec said, live service has costs; ongoing dev costs, moderation costs, serverside costs, every copy you sell on the merits of live-service is a cost you have to offset elsewhere, and maybe ten games total in the last decade have produced the necessary whales.

By comparing clientside and serverside backend metrics, we can compare them. Google Cloud is offering serverside backend metrics for the first time. #GoogleNext18

yeah that’s what I was getting at in the latter bit of this post from a few wks ago, although I was thinking about filling them in serverside rather than on client. tbh either works.
For _my_ end goal usecase atm (which I should document somewhere) I think 3P appview + microcosm might be the way

hell yeah. I’ve thought about doing ‘small-world’ backfill manually and/or using following lists, but hadn’t considered using a feed or watching for tags as sources too (but it makes sense!)
RE threads: are you thinking of using constellation/direct PDS reqs to fill missing threads in ‘ad-hoc’?

The views were not only initially rendered server-side, they were always rendered serverside, even on subsequent requests. The data returned from XHR requests was HTML, not JSON, because the views were compiled in the server-side application. This is a very different approach from JSON over the wire
