Spotted this female Sand tailed digger wasp (Cerceris arenaria) this afternoon in my Falmouth garden. Being a solitary wasps she both digs her nest and provisions it. Her usual prey is weevils.

Here's a Ruby-tailed Wasp that was hanging around the solitary bee nesting facility. I guess it's probably Chrysis ignita, but no doubt someone will correct me if not.

Not what I expected to see in our new solitary bee nest provision! I think it might be a male Crossocerus vagabundus, Wandering Boxhead Wasp, but I'd really appreciate any help as my wasp ID skills are very poor.

Stuck in this rotten Black Poplar log blown over in the winter storms for #solitarywasp nesting habitat in the forest ride. It's a planted young oak forest with little or no dead wood.
