My experience w/seemingly smart folks (eg, an IT guy, technically brilliant) is that they are sucked in by the numbers. If someone spouts a number, it has to be truth. 45,000 people in a 5 block area of Los Angeles lied abt being on hospice to cheat Medicare. Sure, that sounds right.
