With the sale of Uluru resort surely that money could be used to build suitable remedial places, on their land, and run by trained indigenous people who know the issues and educate those who have avoided school. Build "prisons" suitable to culture?

It was on my bucket list, and looking at the photos again makes me want to go back. Only this time I’d like to go with someone. I had tickets for dinner under the stars in the middle of the Field of Lights installation but it was actually very rainy when I was there, so it was cancelled. ☹️

“After decades of consultation, they issued the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The request was modest by any democratic standard.

A Voice to Parliament. A permanent advisory body so they could speak about laws that govern their lives.

Not a veto. Not supremacy. Just a voice.

Australia said no.”

What we really need is an Indigenous Voice to parliament and the implementation of the Uluru Statement of the Heart in full…

🦎 Legend says that Adnoartina is the reason that Uluru, a sandstone mountain of cultural significance, has its distinctive color. The story goes that Adnoartina fought with a dog named Marandi. During the fight, Adnoartina bit Marandi, & his blood spilled all over Uluru, permanently dyeing it.

Cheers Mel. The distance from Sydney to Uluru is approximately 1,740 miles by road. If flying, the distance is about 1,350 miles and takes about 3 to 4 hours. It mainly consists of two things. Hee and Haw.

Morning to you! Have a good day.
Wet here, and the excitement of a supermarket run to stock up before snow next week. Oh the excitement 🙄

I spent 5 weeks in Australia a couple of years ago. The only time I really got annoyed was when I encountered a large group of American tourists at the buffet breakfast at Uluru. They don't travel well.

An inselberg upon the planet: circa 500 million years ago, central Australia was a sea. As it eroded via tectonic shifts, the sandstone sediment layers exposed began to be weathered down; leaving the iconic Uluru of today. Though, most of its mass is below the surface.
