#Unaccessioned
Originally stored unaccessioned in the library of the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, a Hungarian-born New York based dealer, Joseph Brummer, acquired it in 1936, eventually selling it to Met trustee Walter C. Baker for $27,000 in 1948. It didn't enter the Met's collections until 1972.

In preparing for our move in a couple years we've been sorting through lots of our unaccessioned material so we definitely feel your pain. Lots of undated photographs from previous archivists or weird objects held onto 'just in case'.

Ime many museums have piles of unaccessioned stuff because of the rules around donations to museums, but lack the resources to process! Accessioning is big time and money cost. Add to that it used to be manual, paper based and new software versions aren't great: also need constant upgrading

Tidying up the coin room I found these in a plastic shopping bag 😭 unaccessioned & untracked. Some of these replicas are of coins in the @romtoronto.bsky.social collection so time to don the nitrile gloves! Pictures of before & after.

Every book which has been accessioned contains the same bookplate. There are no bookplates left, and quite a lot of unaccessioned books.
Commission copies of bookplate, or just to buy a library stamp?
Any thoughts?

We should all learn to do this. Comments should be for the coffee break afterwards. Or for an anonymous blog 😂 #Unaccessioned
When I moderate panels (or do my own events) I always preface Q&A time with 3 rules:

1. Questions must be in the form of a question

2. Questions must be one part questions

3. Questions must be as short as possible

Because that way we can get more questions in.

I cut people off if they ignore.
Do read Kate Watson's post for the numbers on male domination of panel Q&As, and the easy adjustments moderators can make to prevent it.

I live in hope for the moderator who, when someone starts,

'This is more of a comment than a question'

says 'Actually no, let's move onto the next question'.
