January's theme: Sculpture
KNEELING ARCHER (front and back views), c. 210 BCE. Lintong District, Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China.
Hidden for 2,000+ years, a chance discovery in 1974 revealed the astounding terra cotta army.

funniest shit happens when you go to xi'an to see them in person and you slip the old guy at the table at the attached museum that the ccp says is the exact farmer that found them a 20 dollar bill despite all the signs around his table saying to never tip him

(he will pose for any pic you want)

Buf, nene. 💚

That's the historical context leading to the Xi'an incident, where two warlords kidnapped Generalissimo Chiang and threatened him to stop purging the CCP and instead focus on fighting Japan's invasion.

You cannot tell the full story of the war without the context of how they got to that point.

Again I think of the lovely Mantou shop owner in my Grandpa’s neighborhood (in a smaller town) and her face when she talked about how there’s no one in Xi’an knew how to make an authentic “Shaanxi” Mantou😂

Anni fa ho passato il Capodanno a Xi'an (Cina) e in hotel abbiamo chiesto uno spumante.
Conto: circa 50 euro. Si sono ripresi il culo 😬
🤣
