Like Canada I might have thought a colder climate at the ends of the earth would not have appealed to 47. He’ll not be golfing at Balmedie in Aberdeenshire too often..

The wonderful Trump Turbines (as we like to call them) up here at Balmedie Aberdeenshire

This is the Nipper and the good Doctor her in doors on the beach in front of them. Lovely walking

From our visit over Christmas to Balmedie beach it's clear one course is not being used just wrecking the dunes which are SSI.

On the other hand, speaking of things we 'have to have', I think there is some prime land near Balmedie that might be good for building a massive windfarm on.

My preference would be to buy it very cheaply, but I'm not ruling out sending in the rugby lads to claim it on our behalf.

In 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 we knew this soon after he bought land at Balmedie for a golf course in 2006. How he duped council (Aberdonians aren’t daft- tough as their granite) is a mystery. Serious press (The Scotsman) sceptical.
Yeah... we knew this 10 years ago.

If only people had listened....

And 🦋? You could drink more whisky so we don’t need to send it to 🇺🇸. I think we should put a 100% land tax on 🇺🇸 owned Golf Clubs, eg Trump Turnberry and Balmedie. Then put up a HUGE wind farm two miles off the coast. He HATES wind farms. 💨

And knock them down! I'll not forgive Swinney for selling off Balmedie!

It would be nice for Scottish councils to have Janey Godley Road on the way to Trump’s property holdings.
In meantime, The Cock & Bull is nearby his pushed-through Balmedie holding.

‘You've Been Trumped’ is a 2011 documentary by British filmmaker Anthony Baxter. It documents the construction of a luxury golf course on a beach in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, by developer Trump & the struggles between the locals, Donald Trump, & Scottish legal and governmental authorities.

There is a large windfarm off the shore of his course at Balmedie. THAT is why he hates them so much.
January 7, 2026 at 12:46 PM
Far worse than that… he wanted to stop their construction because they would "spoil the view" from his plastic golf course at Balmedie. He lost, and now the wind farm generates enough electricity for 80,000 homes.

Lebensraum part one. Lots of talk about oil. (Think there’s some not far from his Balmedie estate?)

Today is a great example of why we need a gloval Magnitzki act...the ability in each country to specifically sanction and seize the property of the LEADERS who carry out crimes against humanity, war crimes and corruption.

Trump International Balmedie, Turnberry, Trump International Doonberg...

The windmill thing dates from his stushie in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 over wind turbines within sight of his Balmedie golf course. Unsightly like the local residents who wouldn’t sell to him & looked like they didn’t have golden ballroom.

Another chilly beach in Balmedie where Trump has abandoned the golf course that did the environmental damage and built another one! These are also the windmills he does not like. Happy Boxing Day!

Being ‘home’ offers the opportunity see beautiful places like Balmedie beach. The sun just sneaking through the clouds on a crisp day you can make out a line of offshore supply vessels leaving Aberdeen to the South. As an aside, there is a Trump golf course along the coast and he hates the wind farm.

Balmedie rules!!!
December 23, 2025 at 7:34 AM
No, it's not that, it's actually worse than that.

This decision was made purely out of spite.

Trump has had it out for Wind Energy ever since Scotland built several wind turbines a kilometer off the shore from one of his golf courses in Balmedie, which "ruined it's view of the ocean."

I don't usually commend labour, but Councillor Jim O'Boyle's plan is fantastic news. Golf course's fairways, greens and bunkers to be replaced with wetland, grassland, ponds, hedgerows and shrubs.

Perhaps Balmedie and Turnberry could get similar treatment :-)

A former golf course could become a habitat with the potential to support ospreys, otters and beavers.

"Trump, who owns Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire and Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire, has waged war against wind farms for more than a decade, ever since he led an unsuccessful campaign to prevent their construction near his Balmedie resort."
