It misspelled basal. So it needs an autocorrect eh?

Oh boy!!! Basal ganglia!

Exactly. If an AI *can* invent terms when transcribing notes, then it's been set up incorrectly. Even if 'basilar ganglia' appears once in its training data as a typo, but basilar appears frequently, it should never 'mishear' 'basal ganglia' as basilar ganglia - it should match phrases not words.

is it ok if the cult is the church of lyra also what if im arguing against the existence of a physical basal reality and therefore the concept of facts

“Any citizen who carries out agricultural operations finds corpses. Any citizen who digs next to his house finds skulls, finds heads, finds bodies,” says Palestinian Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal, describing a reality that has become routine across #Gaza" #TranslatingFalasteen

It's the little things. We're on holiday and taking it sloooooow. A is napping on the couch next to me and apart from the delight of having a 13 year old who still wants to hang out with her Mum, I can hear her Omnipod ticking away delivering her basal dose of insulin. I'm so grateful for this tech.

Your turn: what’s the worst metadata bug you’ve faced?
Mine was a cancer subtype column where “Basal” appeared as:
“Basal”, “basal-like”, “Basal_Like”, and “BASAL”.
What’s yours?

basal ganglia would have been correct but then how do you know that AI is truly intending that? how many diagnosis could be changed by just a few letters?

I've seen eyes like hers before. On a Tiger shark, as it passed within ten feet of me.
Dead eyed and
basal level soulless.

- Dopamine Signaling: Inflammation in the basal ganglia may disrupt dopamine signaling, affecting reward valuation and the motivation to exert effort, which manifests as profound fatigue.
- Neuroinflammation and Immune Dysregulation: Persistent neuroinflammation,

between the basal ganglia and frontoparietal executive control networks, which correlates with cognitive impairment and a lack of motivation.
- Hypoarousal/Hypometabolism: Patients often exhibit neural hypoarousal and reduced glucose metabolism (hypometabolism) in key brain regions.

- These include decreased gray matter volume and altered white matter integrity in areas like the frontal gyrus, thalamus, and basal ganglia.
-Functional Connectivity: Studies show disrupted communication patterns within neural networks, such as weakened connectivity

Evidence for accumulating neurophysiologic dysfunction in persistent #postCOVID fatigue points to neuroinflammation, altered brain structure & function (particularly in the basal ganglia & frontal regions)

JD Vance is a bright but amoral guy and has successfully found the most basal lowest common denominator out there. Microwaved blood and soil nationalism. This act isn’t new, it’s as old as time.

Still got my copy of Gray's Anatomy somewhere, although I haven't needed it for decades.
I do remember studying the basal ganglia though.
No way will I trust my healthcare to AI that's been fed crap from unknown sources.

Meh. This looks like the kind of typo a human makes sometimes.
Should have been ‘basal ganglia’.
I continue to notice LLM’s making very human-like errors, which shouldn’t be too surprising I guess, since they were trained on human data.

This hits deep for me, because (1) My early career was all about the *basal* ganglia (which do exist), and (2) I have been troubled by the spread of *basil* ganglia on social media posts and student papers
Imagine a radiologist is using a cutting-edge AI tool to analyze your brain scan. The scan flags a problem in your "basilar ganglia." The problem is, there's no such thing.

But there IS a BASAL ganglia or "basal nuclei", which are a group of subcortical nuclei found in the brains of vertebrates.
December 21, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Indeed. It should be basal ganglia. AI simply isn't clever enough. It should confine itself to the contents of the book called Gray's Anatomy. This was the book we often referred to when studying human anatomy.

There should be zero room for hallucinating body parts that don't exist.

Men, what's stopping you from dressing like this again? Two Ostrogothic buckles, one gilded silver with an eagle head terminal, the other gilded copper with a field of cloisonné garnets (and a big garnet in the middle). See ALT.🏺
