7. Joy Division - Transmission

They may be known as purveyors of gloom, but they can also make you dance. That morse-code bass, along with those drums and guitar lines propelling the song forward. 40 seconds in, Ian’s deep baritone arrives. If you aren’t dancing by then, you soon will!

My partner is an introvert and only speaks when he truly has something to say.
However, when he does speak, it pays off that he is a singer with a deep voice (bass baritone) and quite good control over it.
He is unmistakable without having to shout. I sometimes envy him for this ability.

there is a problem with BSKY - most of the folk here are in the same choir so the purpose here is to allow you to let off steam - I'm a baritone but I can get into the tenor range if needed low bass is tad difficult

An article about legendary bass-baritone Paul Robeson in The Guardian today reminded me of the forgotten fact that he was the first artist to perform at the Sydney Opera House. In 1960, he sang 'Ole Man River" and "I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night" to the construction workers on their break.

‘The most dangerous man in America’: how Paul Robeson went from Hollywood to blacklist | Books
In August 1972, the front page of the New York Times arts section published a story titled, Time to Break the Silence on Paul Robeson? The legendary bass-baritone spent the first half of the 20th century as one of the greatest talents the US had ever produced, and its second, both in life and in death as an outcast, the greatest casualty of the second Red Scare period to which today’s current attacks on liberal and progressive politics draw comparison. This week marks 50 years since Robeson’s death and the silence remains.

The only art I ever did well was music.. I played Baritone, Valve Trombone, Tuba/Sousaphone, and Bass Guitar.

Technically Taekwondo was an art as well and I was 3rd Dan black belt in the ITF/USTF once upon a time. And the son of one of my instructors actually follows me on here.
If you make art, you are not art incompetent. Needing practice and to find your niche? Sure. But the only people who are art incompetent are those who never try to make any.
