i was thinking this exact thing this morning, as I was biking and a right-turning car was blocking my bikelane - all drivers should be required to spend time as bicyclists, so they can experience what others around them are constantly feeling in terms of poor driver behaviour.

You agree with me that #RecklessCyclists make bike lanes UNsafe for both other #cyclists and #pedestrians, & there are many reckless cyclists.
There are also problems with #BikeLane infrastructure, lighting & signage that should be corrected to make them safer.

There's definitely room for improvement of not only the infrastructure, lighting & signage of #BikeLanes themselves, but also ensuring the safety of #cyclists & #pedestrians who are at risk thanks to #RecklessCyclists etc.

But especially in the Netherlands the fietsstraat will often replace an existing seperate bikelane. So thats why I am not that positive about them. You are forced to roll the dice on the motorist behind you accepting/understanding the new traffic situation. I dont want to cycle in a casino every day

Look at this progression of the public right of way. Giving a presentation later on micromobility in the public right of way. Using Washington & LaSalle outside City Hall to show how safety, trip and ridership data, and influence drive change.

The Bikelane and sidewalks on Woodbine heading south are now clear! It kept me up all night but that's okay because now it won't be a slog to take my daughter out in her stroller. Also now delivery bikes can get around safely! Thanks to the city staff sucking up all the snow last night!

Tröstlich die #Boelkestraße: Protected Bikelane. Sichere, geschützte, ausreichend breite Radwege bringen an Hauptverkehrsstraßen auch im Winter ❄️🚲 mehr Sicherheit. Sie werden geräumt, die Zuständigkeiten sind klarer. Zudem sind sie mit den nötigen Gerätschaften und Räumfahreugen gut zu erreichen.
