In the bare poplar tree outside my window, Eastern Phoebes have been visiting. Ever-so-slowly, light is returning. I took this photo the other day while watching one gently surf the wind on a limb. Its dusky overcoat and creamy underside make this small puff of feathers look like a smoky cloud droplet against the winter green bokeh. From afar, the Phoebe's eyes look beady, but close up they have beautiful copper irises—so bright and full of cleverness. Here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they symbolize the renewal of good luck and fortune for the year. Their famous fee-bee song is a harbinger of spring.

How many borbs sitting in a tree? I love this time of year when Robins squad up before spring has them divided over breeding territory. Thought we had maybe one mating pair but now you can really see how many call #UrbsInHorto #Chicago home if you make space for them.

🤣 I'm in the riparian 3/4 acre and TONS of plants and trees - and 8+ feeders.

I just have 99% big leaf maple in the yard w/out the tree diversity (no one likes nesting in a maple apparently) I just don't get a huge variety of spring/summer birds.

And crows nest in my yard which keeps others away

Good Afternoon Beautiful Souls of Bluesky.Here is a picture of a Common wood pigeon. That I saw a Few days ago Captured on a Canon EOS R50

Even though it's almost the end of the year, I can still hear the birds chirping every morning when I wake up. Makes me feel like it's spring! It's unfortunate we don't have this beautifully coloured laughing dove where I live.

The mood in the local town is buoyant. I had to do a repeat trip- no sherry for the trifle. I walked about with a spring in my step despite all the grim news and am contemplating climbing a ladder to tackle the unruly hedge now the birds are mainly in the tree shouting at me about seed.
