p53 inactivation drives breast cancer metastasis to the brain through SCD1 upregulation and increased fatty acid metabolism - Nature Genetics
This study associates p53 loss and brain metastasis in breast cancer. Mechanistically, p53-null tumors recruit astrocytes that provide substrates for enhanced fatty acid synthesis via upregulated SCD1...

A newly identified mechanism explains how breast cancer cells metastasize to the brain, highlighting the role of p53 loss and fatty acid synthesis, and suggesting new targets for treatment and monitoring. doi.org/hbht68
For the first time, a mechanism enabling breast cancer to metastasize to the brain has been deciphered
A large-scale international study, led by researchers from the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University, has uncovered a mechanism that allows breast cancer to send metastases to the brain—a highly lethal occurrence for which there is currently no effective treatment.

<tears of relief>

It doesn't matter that the MRI didn't cause the cancer, I still freak out every year because the MRI is how they caught the cancer and my brain doesn't see the difference.

To give you a bit of insight into how my weird-ass brain comes up with these crazy ideas, I've read that its possible to have an accessory nipple/breast form anywhere from the armpit to the inner thigh, and I immediately wondered: "what would it look like if there weren't limbs in the way?"
@mapple-hitori.bsky.social has gotten around to coloring my new #legless #multibreast #OC. I've decided to name her #🍈Sariyah.

She was born without legs and has polymastia with accessory breasts growing from what exists of her thighs.

A Tilly thing for @feelinimpish.bsky.social because she latched onto every vulnerable part of my brain and hijacked it and she scares me in all the best ways I love her

The findings offer new hope for treating aggressive brain metastases, including triple-negative breast cancer, where conventional therapies often fail.

"Room for seconds?" she offers, reminding you of her milk, her breast now the only thing you could see.

You had to stop drinking from her big boobies, you thought, before the spell was renewed and without any further input from your brain you got back to gulping down her magical milk...

The rub: Alcohol is bad for you. “We now know that even modest drinking is linked to a higher risk of developing certain cancers such as breast, colorectal and esophageal cancers, as well as brain changes and dementia, heart problems and sleep problems.”
Many people think red wine is better for you than white wine or other types of alcohol. The notion was partly born from studies — some of which have been disputed.

Here’s what new evidence says:
Is red wine better for you than white? The answer may surprise you.
If you’re confused about alcohol, that’s understandable. Here’s what you need to know about red wine versus white wine in terms of health benefits.

Not at all TMI. My sister had a rare aggressive form of breast cancer in 2020 that spread to her brain. Covid took her out before the cancer did. She had been brilliant. I miss her deeply.
