#centibillionaires
like the centibillionaires content to swim in their mountains of coin like Scrooge McDuck as the world burns all around them, these pricks think the perpetuation of their precious genetics trumps the burden of the kid finding joy, meaning or contentment in a late-stage rapaciously excavated planet

In the course of my Ellis book, have had cause to chart the rise of the number of billionaires in the US from 1980 - present, sadly now up to the advent of the "centibillionaires" at which point I felt like clattering my teeth in with a toffee hammer.

Here's something that the billionaires and centibillionaires could do - buy out their contracts for ice agents to quit.

10 million would give 100 100,000 dollar bonuses.

One of the best reasons to eliminate centibillionaires is that, at that level of wealth, the laws of economic physics no longer apply.

Immolating a few tens of millions of dollars to shield Bezos from Trump’s wrath (for a while) is like me investing a few hundred bucks to insulate the attic.

Musk alone ffs is now a TRILLIONAIRE.

Kochs, centibillionaires; Bezos, centibillionaire. Thiel. Andriessen, ...

I think when numbers get that big, conceiving of it all starts to flatten out. I mean, to us. What's 500 billion to 50, 50 to 5?

But it's a fucking *Richter scale* of wealth.

people more historically knowledgable than I have pointed out these centibillionaires have MORE relative wealth, and far less accountability to anyone, than actual monarchs. I don't mean now, I mean like, feudalism.
We're finding out a system that allows people to become insanely wealthy by, essentially, being sufficiently lucky has serious externalities, because people will ALWAYS believe they deserve it, even when it's mostly luck, these paypal guys think they're as amazing as the amount of money they have.

I have been getting a lot of whining about "purity tests" and "people like you are why Trump was elected" bullshit today. My demands are "don't take rights from trans people, and get rid of DHS" with smaller asks to go after centibillionaires and corporate price-gouging. These seem reasonable asks.

Like sure we COULD create new marginal tax brackets for centibillionaires OR we could harangue everyone with a uterus for neglecting society, pick one.

Not just X, if you attack algos all the tech centibillionaires and their dogs go after you: search engines, app stores, web browsers, social media, music streamers, video platforms… all the walled gardens.

Those gardens suck, granted, but you are ticking the lot of them off at once. Courageous. 😳😬🫣

to rich countries giving aid. It must also include philanthropy from the wealthy to help those in need—both domestically and globally—which should grow rapidly in a world with a record number of billionaires and even centibillionaires.

The existence of even a single billionaire is a policy failure at a nearly unthinkable scale…

In a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, 71 % of Americans said they worried about AI “putting too many people out of work permanently.” Yet Trump, with his close ties to Silicon Valley centibillionaires, is assiduously removing any obstacles to the growth of the AI sector. (Atl.)

Targeting the people worth $10-100M, not the centibillionaires.
January 2, 2026 at 3:58 PM
All that money only seems to be making the centibillionaires more miserable. Maybe we should help them out some.
December 31, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Wait, but we can afford permanent tax cuts for centibillionaires?
December 28, 2025 at 3:32 AM
Why do they keep telling you to buckle up? You can have science, education, innovation, and healthcare or richest man in world. ~3,150 globally, up 50% in 5 years. At least 19 are centibillionaires. Six years ago, there was 1. Tax wealth not work.

I wish states and communities would double down against these assholes. Centibillionaires and sports franchise owners can pay up. Fuck em.
Billionaires are considering cutting or reducing their ties to California by the end of the year because of a proposed ballot measure that could tax the state’s wealthiest residents.
A Wealth Tax Floated in California Has Billionaires Thinking of Leaving
It’s uncertain whether the proposal will reach the statewide ballot in November, but some billionaires like Peter Thiel and Larry Page may be unwilling to take the risk.

Larry Ellison Personally Guarantees Paramount Bid for Warner Brothers www.nytimes.com/2025/12/22/b...

In any sane time, the idea of father-son centibillionaires and middle eastern oil controlling Paramount, CBS, HBO, Showtime, and CNN would be so preposterous it wouldn’t even be worth a mention.

If I ever become a centibillionaire, I’m buying the world’s biggest yacht, inviting all the other centibillionaires to a party on said yacht, sailing to international waters, then scuttling the whole miserable lot.

Romney was a decent guy. If gonna start taxing the rich, should start with Musk. Maybe a special tax for centibillionaires. Nationalize SpaceX for national security reasons.
