My own mom immediately jumped to judgement and eyerolling before reeling it back and trying to seem sympathetic. My husband went through the same "oh I guess everyone has their diagnosis now hurr hurr" process when I told him I was pursuing evaluation. And both won't understand how hurtful this is.
