The wine industry is going through it right now. Lowest world-wide production in 50 years

Reasons:
-decades of uncontrolled growth in emerging regions
-climate change is making grapegrowing more of a challenge
-changing drinking habits
-inflation

This had a profound effect on many family/small size grapegrowers who had worked the land for many generations. Committing to grapegrowing means you really only have one crop a year. The new plantings flooded the market with grapes from young vines which have not reached their winemaking potential
