EU, Japan and UK felt they had to sell ambiguous deals with the US in ways that would keep Trump sweet because of wider fears over the US commitment to European and Indopac security.

I understand those strategic impulses, but think they are misguided since the US could implode domestically anyway

Let’s see where that stands in a year. Certainly they are pushing that direction. But even if the priority shifts there, the US remains unavoidable in CENTCOM’s geography as well as in IndoPac—and that’s speaking only of military power.

Really cool.

Hegseth lives in an upside-down world, where he parrots false news for Trump. The USA is fine in the INDOPAC arena, and the Mexican border issue is not the resource-stealing problem it is made out to be. Hegseth will be disposed of as soon as Trump is ready.

Remarkable how little attention Yoon’s plan to provoke a 🇰🇵 attack as part of his coup receives.

How close we came to war on the Peninsula and possibly wider. Consequences for IndoPac, even UA.

Mattis rightly smacked down McMaster during Trump I for contemplating action.

There are no adults now.
When the details of the South Korean coup emerged (specifically the part about deliberately provoking a “limited” North Korean attack in order to have an excuse to declare martial law), I thought “that’s so insane that only Kash Patel would do something so stupid.” And here we are.
Ominous: GOPers are now saying Trump is picking Kash Patel to "clean out" the FBI and restore its "integrity." This will be their cover to go along w/Trump's scheme to unleash FBI on enemies. Media is already credulously echoing this claim. Awful.

New piece from me:
