Roughly 3,000 light years away is the Spaghetti Nebula (SH2-240). It occupies 3 degrees of the night sky (6 full moons). I shot this as a 2-panel mosaic due to its impressive size. This includes 50 hours of exposure time to bring out more details.

This is not a condemnation of modern horror, this is a joke. I love modern horror actually. Some of the most provocative and interesting horror has come out in the last 5-10 years.

Horror is the best genre because it allows us to address the unspoken in society and to drag it into the light.

went to a new years house party last night and brought along my Sony Mavica to test out

Mavicas record data directly onto a floppy disk, each disk holding about 5-7 photos depending on compression

the slow CCD sensors and write speed make it a demanding camera for low/natural light conditions

with the D line to DTLA, basically all of my regular trips are competitive with a car. Signal preemption for light rail would make everything easier, as would BRT and a few major rail extensions, but for the next 10 years im pretty solid.

Though I should add I spent 3 years behind enemy lines at the (actually very good) University of Sunderland and graduated at the Stadium of Light, so I’m a tad softer on them than the average Geordie

#2025recap it’s been a tough year for most of all. And those little moments of happiness that I find respite. And as we enter another tumultuous year, I’ll strive to find hope when there’s none and rekindle the light when it is in its last wick. May we continue to strive in these dark years.

“We’ve spent the last six years visiting a hellish dystopia that resembles the world we know, but drained of all love and light. Now we need a familiar place to meet up. So … Philly?”

Day 5 (New Years Eve): Final real day of the trip! Rather light day, but i got to see the Sherlock Holmes museum, tried a full English, saw Les Mis, and ate at a really nice pub!

I would love to be one of those love and light witches, but this pain and darkness feels 3000 years old

But also understanding that the thoughts will pass, and that my issues are far from the worst I've had, and decidedly a million light years from the worst in the world.

Two years ago I bought a Raspberry Pi NOIR camera module, planning to put a night-vision camera in the garden. As I started processing the shots, I got hooked on the infrared look. I added cheap long-pass filters to control visible light and bodged it all together into a DIY camera system.

Yeah! I’ve been at 2023 RPM for at least two years and the check engine light seems to be BS. It’s been on this whole time.

I wasn't really planning on do anything for new years this year, but my little creative heart couldn't help myself to at least do something.

Dying light in 10 years Have only made DL1, DL2 and DLB.

All pretty cool games but after DL 1 the scope have basically made it so the next game has had some massive new big thing. Which not only does it ends up being real costly but also ends up creating some real unrealistic expectations.
January 1, 2026 at 10:10 PM
What do you mean that Dying Light 1 is 10 years old?!
Wtf.....

Tho at the same time, I feel it helps kinda put into perspective how different dev cycles have become. I like to say that DL feels like the original Resident Evils, it has a similar heart.

holding my violin for the first time in like three years and i'm like damn.. has this instrument always been so light

Folks, is this a screenshot from a new game? Or a still from a science fiction film?

No!

This is ME taking a photo of a real life laser-like light from the Harwell Diamond Light Science Campus near me. The campus is 80 years old so the light is 8 miles long accordingly!

Isn't science amazing!
