In Heroes/Dragon Warriors/WFRP, "aristocrat" is often a synonym for "prick". Even out of fantasy, in 80s UK CoC material it's generally safe to assume that the posh person is a villain.

Magnamund (Lone Wolf) is an interesting and noticeable exception to this trend.

Joe Dever effectively open sourced a load of the Lone Wolf material, there's loads available here at Project Aon www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Books including all the gamebooks, Magnamund Companion & a load of other stuff. A while back I looked at printing MC with Doxzoo but couldn't find a good cover.

Do you have the Magnamund Companion back from when the early books were out?

It's the new RPG based on the Dragonbane. Although they do have other series of solo books set in Magnamund.

Holmgard Press are still producing content, I'm looking forward to Adventures in Magnamund.

Forest of Doom was my first too! My dad bought it me for helping him shopping in town one snowy December. I was hooked instantly. No idea how many Dever wrote. I remember the story up until Shadow on the Sand (?) but it becomes a bit hazy after that. Still got my Magnamund Companion somewhere. ☺️

That map of Holmgard is gorgeous. The Lone Wolf books are the first non-FF game books I tried and hold a very special place in my heart. Still got my original books and my Magnamund Companion. ☺️

Oh, darn you. The easy Resource selection of Combat, Endurance and Discipline. Lifting skills and Kai stuff from the books for Sanction Abilities. Rifling through the
Heroes of Magnamund book for Lifepath table content.

Oh yes, the Magnamund Companion. We know it well!

Solo gamebooks are still a favourite too. Dice+pencil+open the book and start reading. The Lone Wolf solo RPG books let you play across an epic saga. Go from book to book, shaping a rich, evolving story in the world of Magnamund. It’s one long adventure.

I have vague memories of such a game (but they're muddled with a similar one in the Lone Wolf Magnamund Companion).

Luckily, Reddit provides a downloadable version of the WD game.

Looking at the Kickstarter page, there is one chapter on Magnamund in the main book. It's unclear where the scenarios in the Adventure book are set though the add on Shadows over Magnamund mentions from the frozen north to southern deserts so hopefully at least as far as Vassagonia

I completely agree. I look forward to running a Magnamund based rpg next year as I backed a game that will use Dragonbane as it's system

Lone Wolf is widely considered the best fantasy gamebook series, and it was a big part of my childhood. It is awesome to have contributed to that world.
