MANTEL... MANTELPIECE!

Just wrapping the stems took hours, and cutting all the pieces is going to take more hours 😬 but looking forward to when it’s all done and I can finally fill the empty vase on the mantelpiece hehe

We have battery candles in jars too. As the daughter of a fireman I’m very conscious of risks but allow myself two tea lights on the mantelpiece in the evening 😊

So lovely! Yours are a little ahead of mine... 🌾

#WIPSnips - table

The sheet of fabric mentioned here is the same as the canvas from yesterday’s snip, only, as part of George’s story, this is over 200 years before that snip. Blood is what makes it work.

Some more old memory photos (again not local). Footy in the street, a coal bunker, and gran's big old fireplace - with the fireguard, pot dogs on the mantelpiece, cat keeping warm in its own little box.
From the 'Revive Old Britain' site.

My daughter thrifted me this beautiful Japanese Porcelain Egg for a Christmas gift for 6$🇨🇦 ... but it seems to be worth a little bit more! Regardless of the value, I absolutely love it! On my mantelpiece! 🥰🎄🎁

I could probably leave the red flower lights up on the mantelpiece though. A bit of light in the darkness

Go and look at insert name's website. See the marvellous put right AI error things. His CV is a mantelpiece.

As Rio once said when describing Ryan Giggs' start as Man U captain, "He's really taken it up the mantelpiece"

Jan Lodewijk Pierson studied in Leiden under Professor De Visser and contributed to the compilation of a Chinese–Japanese dictionary of 10,000 characters. If 編 had a mantelpiece, this dictionary would sit on it. 編 is the thread that ties chaos into coherence.

Got lovely photos from a customer of my art store! Who knew that my code-generated math art would go well with a masonry stove and ornaments? :)

I feel like I need more non-holiday lights in my decorating to pick up the slack. The mantelpiece feels extremely empty.

My meeting diary is as empty as Walliam's mantelpiece an all

(This is a Christmas card joke)

If it’s any consolation, we took down the tree and all the Christmas bling, but the branches on the mantelpiece and the door wreath are staying up until Feb 2nd. Purely because it cheers the place up during these bloody awful times.

Dining room now cleared of Christmas decorations/cards and the mantelpiece in the sitting room. Just the front window and my little real Christmas tree to do now. Need to get the various boxes out of back bedroom cupboard and it's freezing in there. Just seen Ms Fluffy Black in my garden, looks ok.

I didn’t get any decs up this year, just not in the mood at all. This was from 2020, after buying a fake tree with fake snow and integral lights so the coloured ones went round the mirror and haven’t shifted since.

I put a set of tree lights around my mirror and mantelpiece after feeling the same a few years ago. They’re soft pink and lilac and so pretty. My mother thought them common.

Tree and cards are down, but I think I’ll leave this lil garland up for a while ☺️

Memories
I kept little things of my Dad’s that no one would know the significance of, not of £ value
One was a tiny rocking chair, about 6 in tall, made of wooden pegs - my Granddad used to make them and this one sat on their mantelpiece for years
Now it sits on my book case ❤️

Watching Leo watching David Attenborough narrate the treehopper mum protect her young by yeeting predator ants into the sun. We have builders starting on Monday so the living room is a mess. #TinyJoys

Can\'t believe a builder's not put a thick oak mantelpiece above the burner

I didn't hate it but it felt like they had in mind a lot of cool scenes but very little connecting tissue between them, and some Chekov's guns not only got left unfired, but they were removed from the mantelpiece altogether. And so much static exposition! Have them do something while they talk!
