Reading Mary Roach's new book "Replaceable You" [2025, W. W. Norton], there's a description of how human tears form layers, aided by a "brush-like scaffold that extends into the tear film", known as a glycocalyx. Curious, I looked for a picture of this, the first one I found was bemusing.

I had read a while back that skincare products with snail mucin were extremely effective but that they smelled horrid. Avon's Beyond Glow stuff has absolutely no smell whatsoever.

Just had my followup appointment with my oncologist. Pathology report looked pretty good; mostly dead cells / mucin pools in the biopsied tissues. She proclaimed me “disease free” for now. Next step is monitoring (CT scan in 6 mo.).
