#overpaint
ruin a perfectly good piece on purpose, spill ink, scratch it, overpaint the face

Here is the stuff I’ve used. I restarted modelling with some old
Kits and in some cases the decals just disintegrated in water. You paint this carefully over the actual decal and it seals the decal. If you “overpaint” you can trim it down once it’s dry (overnight)

imagine if we could paint
the whole whole with empathy;

layer brushstokes of kindness;
upon daubs of compassion.

overpaint the destruction
to create a blank canvas;

obscure the hatred beneath
splatters of humanity;

a thick coat of tolerance
in every colour; tone; hue.

Making overpaint a bit by bit.

The flower brushes!! I would not use them much and for painting BG I feel most brushes don't have enough of "me" when I use them and I would need to overpaint almost everything anyway (so I rather create my own basing it on the native ones)

Indeed, on second thoughts the smoke may have been an overpaint or overpainted later. Without knowing where and when the duke acquired it, it will be hard to be certain. That's why I love these old catalogues, makes you really look and think.

Stunningly beautiful!

Just like my other genre favourite - Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood.

I still don’t know how exactly Pyro or Spellbound actually made these gorgeous backgrounds. Like, I get that it’s 3D render to 2D overpaint, but in which software? How was it textured? How did they light it?

It's so nice! It's low poly but I wont need more. Gonna overpaint a lot anyway. Also some adjustments are needed to be made in Blender: add stuff, textures, add some trinkets, but this is genuinely nice. (The thing I fear the most is organising the objects in collections and renaming lol)

a photorealism study with ashe. sometimes i just like to wing it and merge all layers and then overpaint everything on the canvas. like this picture for example i just do very minimal lineart/sketch, and just paint everything else. it's much more fun but can get a little time consuming down the line

God so true. Plus this morning an artist I've been following for a decade has started to use AI to render sketches and then overpaint to 'speed up the production process'.

If its the one in your icon, overpaint the Morning Glories with cool pinks in a yonic shape and keep using them.

😂🤣😂

I like to add some extra hairs and fur tufts when I overpaint at the end :33

I might add some lines inside tho!!!

I'll never forgive Dan Trachtenberg for dressing Yautja in potato sacks.
They should be running around in crop tops, loincloths, and slutty fishnets, just as god intended.

depends!
I like to fuck around and find a lot :D
But for this specific sketch i went with:
rough sketch -> "sculpted" sketch -> lasso tool mask -> coloring flats -> textures -> shadows -> overpaint -> clip linework to the mask
And some final touch ups at the end. That's pretty much it!

Overpaint details (this is where being able to draw perfect shapes and lines come in).
Use assets when you can. (Screentones, 3D models, image assets, etc.)
Don't feel the need to draw every detail. Learn when you need to omit them (backgrounds, body parts, simplify etc)

Overpaint my old art

BTW all lines and colors are "painted" with no anti aliasing and 100% opacity. Hard pixels only. This allows me to safely recolor anything I want with the paintbucket and I can overpaint the designs again and again without making a mess. The resolution is just high enough to hide that fact.

Would be interesting to see the before and after with the overpaint if you decide to do so! :)

Thanks!! I want to overpaint this one since I have been studying more! I wonder if I can improve this gigi art!

Ugly stage in question
The shading looks muddy here, I put a soft light layer above everything and made it look better, but now I can't just merge it with the overpaint layer because of the way my layers are
I'm absolutely awful at doing colours and for some reason refuse to learn any colour theory

#WIP still
Every time I sit to draw this I am myself why. For now I'm adding basic shading with a multiply layer, later I'll just shade more and add details with overpaint
