Wahrscheinlich bin ich der einzige, der so Großveranstaltungen wie die Photokina total vermisst. Man hat sich Monate vorher schon drauf gefreut. Mit Freunden/Bekannten verabredet. Dort getroffen, sich ausgetauscht über die gleichen Interessen. Viel gesehen und gelernt. Das ist leider Nostalgie.

I must wonder if any of us realises how many Africans speak Russian fluently.
My chill revelation was at a PhotoKina, decades ago, when I overheared an entire delegation of Africans, visiting a Russian boot, fluently conversating in Russian.

Most of the shows in the EU allow alcohol all day on the show floor, many (depending on what hall most) of the stands have beer machines at IBC & Photokina.

One peculiar aspect of Russian social structure is that the ruling elite has tons of "Historian Orientalist/Africanist" majors in it, usually with good language fluency. That is because the Oriental Studies departments have been a major recruiting pool for the KGB/FSB.
