Ça avance... J'ai testé QMK et Vial comme firmware.
Je migrerai peut-être à terme mais ça part sur Vial pour le moment !

Ooooh, gotcha. That's a sheer cliff to jump off, respect. If it's already compatible with VIA or Vial, that'd be best. Otherwise you have to really dig into learning QMK from source, which is a big ask indeed. Or flash new firmware that is compatible, at minimum.

graph of my outgoing bandwidth showing when I stopped letting Anthropic repeatedly re-download QMK firmware from me which, and I can't stress this enough, consists almost entirely of data they're already scraped from other people and that's freely available anywhere.

OwlabがQMKのライセンス違反してるのかよーわからん(QK/Neoは明確に違反してるが). 当人らの言い分としては"Owlab has not sold any product that uses qmk-based trimode PCB. The only trimode device, which is voice mini, is bases on a proprietary firmware."らしく, 実際OwlabブランドのTri-modeはそれしかなさそうだけど, 違反ベンダーのリストには載ってるし.

Well thank you! Actually have customizable QMK firmware running on it now, hoping to get it committed to their official repository soon! github.com/JeremySCook/...

Hmm okay of course the mainline QMK firmware is missing Bluetooth support, and the actual source code is a Byzantine twisted mystery hacked together around another closed Bluetooth stack 🫠

For firmware I just went with QMK, and was actually my first time setting up a firmware. Easier than I thought it'd be, the code's pretty straight-forward. QMK supports more than just keyboards, so I might... play around with it a bit more later, we'll see.

If you've got one of the fancy keebs with QMK firmware, you can build some shortcuts for keys that you're missing that are saved inside the keyboard itself and not the OS. It's a hassle, but no one ever claimed beauty was free or even cheap!

yes i know about qwerty international. no i don't like it :)

also i really shouldn't have to use a custom firmware to access generic QMK backlight effects but. oh well it's not like i can fork the factory firmware and code that shit myself anyway :X

Experimenting with some of my QMK-based boards, changing the debounce mode to latch/eager, recompiling the firmware and seeing how they feel. So far, pretty good!

Apart from emegencies, I don't understand the need to work at a coffee shop.

I *need* my keyboard with its custom sprung switches, my QMK firmware mouse, and my multiple monitors. They're, um, essential for my productivity!

I'm also thinking about replacing the QMK firmware for my ergodox with something written in Rust, because why not,

you’d probably love Ploopy, all their designs are open source, QMK firmware, removable cables. they also make a mouse!

I think I'm not too far down the line from trying my hand at creating my own QMK firmware. I just discovered VIAL and it's more advanced than VIA.

just discovered the ploopy adept trackball and omg i need one. it's an open source trackball running the qmk firmware on an rp2040 with a pixart paw3360 sensor. it sounds fucking amazing. https://ploopy.co/adept-trackball/

No prob~ I saw you were into keyboards. I program my own qmk firmware and thought it'd be fun to see what qmk stuff ppl are up to

Been also looking for a new keyboard with some heavy constraints that all together might not exist...
- Full-size 100% (need keypad!)
- ISO/German layout
- MX Brown switches or comparable
- Hot-swappable switches
- cabled, wireless optional
- QMK/VIA firmware support
- Per-key RGB
