I remember the City of Sydney Library being located in the QVB. The building was falling into disrepair at that time, almost a tactic of allowing that as a reason to demolish it

Sydney QVB looking magnificent in the sun. I was very impressed with the new Metro stations and im not one to like much of anything modern in architecture, but the stations I saw were earthy and futuristic at the same time, as if they had already been in the sandstone awaiting us to carve them out

When QVB was managed by a Singaporean businessman in late 90's, early 2000's, he explicitly pushed the idea of having tea room in the spirit of Quong Tart, worked with the owner running a function centre on 3rd floor to make it happen. I worked there for a bit in the early 2000's. It's still there.

Phew. idk about numbers but Gadigal country bunged on another picnic atmosphere pro-Pal protest, hearing from Sumud Flotilla members; the march from Hyde Park to Belmore Park occupied Market St from Hyde Park to the QVB and the entire width of George St along the length of the QVB. #auspol Big.

The irony was she would be totally surrounded by shoppers who were entitled to be there, but a kid with a sign? Nope. The management from the QVB would regularly shove her out from under the awning because that was their property, leaving her sitting in the sun. Circular quay cops are total garbage.

There is sadly. My daughter is a climate activist and she needed to apply every week for a permit to sit with a sign in front of the QVB in case more than four people joined her. Every week the police would come just to ask her for her permit.
