🇪🇺 In the next few weeks, the EU is set to finalise the new 2040 #ClimateTargets.

❌ But the proposal sticks to the #NetZero playbook, relying on international #offsets and #CarbonRemovals instead of real emissions cuts.

We need to move beyond net zero — and take meaningful steps toward #RealZero!

Als VCD können wir uns Schulen ohne Elterntaxis sehr sehr gut vorstellen. In deutschen Städten gibt es Jahr für Jahr Verkehrstote, Helsinki & Oslo haben RealZero fast erreicht. Es gibt z.B. Lauf- und Fahrradbus … - Schulen, Städte & Eltern können gemeinsam sichere Wege gestalten und organisieren.

The government’s claims that emissions are falling ... are deception. The current 43 per cent target isn’t even particularly high, and the government still cannot meet it without cheating. Raising the target just increases the incentive to fudge the numbers further.

Städte wie Oslo und Helsinki zeigen, die #VisionZero ist keine Utopie, sondern kann durch eine konsequente Stadtgestaltung zur #RealZero werden. Der Weg, Anpassung bzw. Gestaltung des Straßenraums zur Verminderung der Geschwindigkeit, getrennte Fuß- und Radwegen und flexible Tempolimits.
