On May 1st, the Government's #RentersRightsBill will come into effect. The long-promised legislation will deliver some big changes for tenants, with an end to no-fault evictions among them!

For decades, too many renters have lived at the mercy of rogue landlords.

Labour have rebalanced that relationship with the Renters Rights Act.

Interesting that Reform backed the landlords, rather than voting to give renters the security they deserve...

Good news! The #RentersRightsBill has received royal assent - this landmark legislation will give vital protections to the millions of private renters in the UK. A happy day.

Now it's time to tackle the next crisis facing renters - affordability. That must include rent controls.

We welcome the Renters' Rights Bill's passing. For years, we've called for a better deal for older renters, and it’s good to see parliamentarians taking action.

What the Bill won’t address is the quality and affordability of rented homes. This must change.

New stats show a record number of older people facing homelessness in England.

Despite the #RentersRightsBill, over-65s are still worried because their Housing Benefit doesn't cover their rent.

The UK Govt must commit to uprating Local Housing Allowance.

Very engaging Peers all Ears event at @libdems.org.uk conference. Useful insight into the influence of the second chamber. I asked a question about how Peers can ensure the #RentersRightsBill moves through parliament at pace. Older #renters living on a low income don't have time to waste! #LDconf

After 4 years renting Lord Alli’s home at £4,800, a family was evicted via Section 2, only to see it re-let for £5,700.

The #RentersRightsBill will end ‘no-fault’ evictions.

GLP Solicitors are following updates closely.

❌ Unfortunately, the Minister REJECTED an amendment to protect shared owners who are accidental landlords.

👉 We've repeatedly warned the Government: some shared owners will lose their home as a result.
