ravens and wereravens alike are the one true good omen in Barovian culture. The module specifically tells us to refer to groups of ravens not as "unkindnesses" but "kindnesses" instead due to their good nature.

While I didn't go with the full additional plotline, I did have some of the wereravens as captives on the hill, and they can also explain why the gem in the wooden statue is important. I also liked the idea that the thunderstorms would be getting worse as the PCs got closer to the top of the hill.

Instead of coming up with a new poison that affects the wereravens, I just said that the various blights have wolfsbane growing through them, which was my way of explaining why the wereravens didn't directly engage the druid cell on Yester Hill.
