Participating in the “writefest” this month ofc, but as I’m away this first week of November it’s been slow going. Hopefully afterwards I’ll be able to bounce back. 🫡

Other than that Belial book 2 is being seen by an editor currently and I’m in talks with my cover artist!

and also this year's WriteFest theme is dinosaurs, which is delightful.

however, 4thewords does have their WriteFest, which runs for 44 days/almost but not quite 6 weeks, so I have an alternative. going to use this to finish my book draft before the year's over.

Today's #writingabtwriting tool features three methods for tracking your writing. Good for everyone at any time but especially those contemplating writing a November Novel. Good luck to everyone, whatever challenge you are tackling next month.

Was WriteFest in person or online? It's so lovely to be immersed in a thing you're obsessed with, with other people who are obsessed with it too.

I'm really looking forward to leading a couple of seminars at WRITEFEST 2025 in Tāmaki Makaurau in a few weeks. They've created a great lineup of seminars and events, for wordsmiths of prose and screen.

See you there!

I've got 2, both from Writefest 2019.

the Veteran panel: I do not truly understand what it's like to be in a warzone and the aftereffects experienced once safe

the Environmental panel: stressed how even digital storage has a big environmental cost in server creation & maintenance

#PretendPanel
Hi #pretendpanel! I'm just on the road at the moment. I'll have a look at all your responses from yesterday when the kids are in bed 😁

May 3rd: Is there a panel that stands out in your memory? (attended or spoke on, either is fine)

I don't think #PretendPanel means fandom cons, so I'll list the only writing festival I've been to: Writefest!

It was in Houston, TX, hosted by what was then called Writespace Houston. I was a volunteer in both 2018 & '19, and especially enjoyed the '19 event. The venue that year was fantastic.

🧵/
#pretendpanel, I'm going to the Auckland and Sydney Writers Festivals later this month, so all my questions are themed around that (I'm a jammy b*, I know!). Tell me:

May 2nd: What's the best convention or festival you've ever been to and why?

"Why don't you write poems of protest?"
Demanded the youth at the writefest
"Instead of this doo-doo
of your sad libido?"
"'Cause risqué subversion is best."

Come read about how I'm doing at this year's WriteFest challenge to draft 250k in 44 days! Spoiler: it's not great. (And learn a little bit about Serbian culture, because everything always goes back to the Balkans with me.)

WriteFest! // Days 4-14 + Genre Musings and Inat
So, I’m behind. As of this morning, I’m at 45k. Which is great! Awesome! That is objectively an asston of words. Probably half a novel, if I was a normal person who wrote normal word count stories.…
