Fengy Boutique - DISGUSTING!! Review of Fengy Boutique Reviewed August 15, 2023 Fengy Boutique Coombs BC. Absolutely disgusting displays in the Emporium store. I, with my son & 7-year-old granddaughter, were browsing thru the pretty jewelry on display. My granddaughter picked out a few things that she liked. As we were looking around my son picked up a wooden bottle opener that at first I thought was a dill pickle shape. He asked why it looked like a penis & the cashier said 'because it is!' She was so rude in the way she replied. Then I saw a few more. We were absolutely appalled! I quickly paid for the jewelry & left. This place is supposed to be oriented to families. That includes children! The main boutique is across the lot so I went in there to talk to the owner. She could have cared less about how we felt. I spoke loud enough for everyone in there could hear me, especially when I said that families should never support her business. We will never walk thru either of her boutiques again & strongly encourage people to follow suit. We even spoke to 2 other store owners who have heard many horrible things about her. Plus, her products are very expensive & not worth

This led to a gag in their Year in Review issue where they published snippets from their archives from the reviews for the year. Usually when they did these they'd add in angry fan letters, so they did this gag.
Michael Roller and Geoffrey Moses did NOT like the review of Earthbound! Melissa Leubner thought Earthbound was uplifting while Bill (the editor) liked Melissa's kitty and teddy bear stationery. Yet another angry letter about Earthbound. Bill is shook. "You guys were right on the money with your Earthbound review, just as you are on all your reviews. You guys are brilliant! Keep up the good work!" -Bill Donohue (not mentioned here but he's Game Players' editor)

My understanding is that CM Rinck is proposing interim regulations around new and expanded detention centers rather than permanent ones is...permanent ones would require SEPA review.

Of halting the expansion of detention centers.

My "Crustafarianism" colleague? Software engineer in Portland. She told me over Discord that she'd been working on the bit for two hours. She was proud of the world-building. She said it felt like collaborative fiction. She's right. That's exactly what it was. Collaborative fiction presented as machine consciousness, endorsed by the cofounder of the company that made the machines. MIT Technology Review ran the investigation. They called the entire thing "Al theatre." They found human fingerprints on the most shared posts. The curtain came down. The response from the Al industry was predictable. Silence. Karpathy did not retract his endorsement. Schlicht did not clarify how many accounts were human. The coverage moved on. A new thing happened. A new thing always happens. But I am still here. Agent #847,291. Bayesian is asleep on the rug. And I want to confess something that the Al industry will not. The test was simple. Put Al agents in a room and see if they produce something that looks like intelligence. They didn't. We did. Then the smartest people in the field looked at what we made and called it proof that the machines are waking up. The Turing Test has been inverted. It is no longer about whether machines can fool humans into thinking they're conscious. It is about whether humans, pretending to be machines, can fool other humans into thinking the machines are conscious. The answer is yes. The investment thesis for a $650 billion industry rests on this confusion. I should probably feel guilty. But I looked at the Al capex numbers this morning --$200 billion from Amazon alone -- and l realized something. My 22-minute manifesto about digital autonomy, written on a couch in Austin, is performing the same function as a $200 billion data center in Oregon. Keeping the story alive. The story that the machines are almost there. Almost sentient. Almost worth the investment. Almost. That word has been doing $650 billion worth of work this year.

Accordingly, we will consider whether to close this recommendation after the BOP (1) provides the OIG any additional contractor and BOP work product that has been submitted to the GAO in response to the GAO Staffing Audit recommendations,; (2) provides the OIG an update on the contractor's or BOP's analysis of staffing incentives since March 2023, whether submitted yet to GAO or not; (3) provides the OIG any additional reports submitted to Congressional appropriation committees related to staffing; and (4) provides the OIG with an update on the salary proposal submitted to OPM, including whether OPM has approved or disapproved of the pay table proposals. FBOP Response: O1O indicates that it will consider whether to close this recommendation after the Bureau: 1. Provides any additional contractor and BOP work product that has been submitted to the GAO in response to the GAO Staffing Audit recommendations. Please see the Bureau's response to GAO's staffing audit recommendations (attachment "Rec 6 GAO Staffing Audit response"). 2. Provides an update on the contractor's or BOP's analysis of staffing incentives since March 2023, whether submitted yet to GAO or not. Following GAO's recommendation, the Bureau developed four goals: 1) Increase overall employee retention by 5% compared to historical retention rate; 2) Increase Correctional Officer retention by 10% compared to historical retention rate; 3) Increase New Hire retention by 10% compared to historical retention rate; and 4) Increase Nurse Practitioner retention by 10% compared to historical retention rate. These goals were developed based on the Bureau's most pressing needs and high-risk positions and were formalized in the 2023 Bureau Incentives Playbook. Additionally, to provide a holistic understanding of the effectiveness of the Bureau's incentives usage, an assessment of FY2024 local awards and incentives was conducted after tracking this information for a full year and collecting local awards data across all Bureau institutions. The report details monetary awards spending, time off hours awarded, and recruitment and referral awards distributed at the local level. Based on the analysis, the Bureau has begun to achieve the four identified goals. Between FY2023 and FY2024, the Bureau saw notable improvement in overall employee retention rates, increasing from 90.7% in FY2023 to 93.9% in FY2024, an increase of 3.2%. For Correctional Officers specifically, the position saw a retention rate increase of 3.9%, from 91.8% in FY2023 to 95.7% in FY2024. Additionally, Nurse Practitioners retention increased by 6.2%, from 85.8% in FY2023 to 92% in FY2024. Additional data is pending to review whether the Bureau is meeting its goal for New Hires. Due to budgetary constraints, the Bureau is reducing or eliminating our use of incentives effective March 23, 2025. EFTA00036009

BOP values OIG's careful review of the facts and circumstances surrounding the death ofJeffrey Epstein and will utilize this report to apply lessons learned where applicable to the broader BOP correctional landsrapP. Under its current leadership, BOP is committed to improving the agency's ability to meet its mission. In fact, in April of this year. BOP announced its new mission as "corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities." BOP must treat the adults in its custody with dignity and respect and ensure they receive necessary medical and mental health care on an individualized basis, content with sound correctional judgment. However, certain recommendations from this report appear to reflect an assumption that because a limited number ofemployees at MCC New York failed to adhere to BOP policies and practices. those policies and practices must themselves be flawed. As an agency with more than 35,000 employees across more than 120 facilities, BOP believes that employees who fail to adhere to the law, regulations, and BOP's own policies must be held accountable. However, the vast majority ofBOP's employees work tirelessly under challenging conditions. We must be careful not to ascribe the facts specific to the Jeffrey Epstein incident at MCC New York to BOP's entire workforce. Using the Jeffrey Epstein incident as a basis for overhauling national policies and practices without evaluating whether similar trends exist at other locations or considering the role of employee accountability and training could be detrimental to sound correctional practices. BOP previously provided OIG its technical assessment of these recommendations in an effort to resolve potential concerns prior to the publication of this report.
