After clashing with Maurice Glasman recently, I've come to realise just how pernicious he and his Blue Labour movement are. We could discuss his chumminess with Steve Bannon and JD Vance, endless pandering to the far right and evident hatred of the Labour left. But there's something even worse. 🧵

Well worth reading, but understates the contradictions in Starmer’s position, failing to discuss how he has actively collaborated with Israel’s campaign in Gaza (eg RAF), continuing to treat it as a close military and political ally; and the fact that he, Lammy & Hermer clearly do know it’s genocide

British institutions came through too, despite some intense and sustained pressure. Just been reading the bit of Tim Shipman's latest where Johnson and Cummings try to get Cabinet colleagues & Civil Service to break law, and they are all, immediately: "Nope. Not doing that. Do that & you're toast."

Brazil’s institutions defended its democracy, upholding the law.

Only America’s decided a criminal must be allowed to break its laws and destroy its democracy.

An often overlooked aspect, on both sides of the Atlantic, of US military presence is Europe is that the US needs bases on the continent for global power projection.

What's striking as always is that those who bang on about "absolute free speech" when it's about the worst kind of reactionary discourse are totally silent when there's actual censorship

Could it be hypocrisy fueled by the mainstream complicity? 🤔

He'll go to prison and the far right will be agitating for his release instantly.

Let justice do its thing.

It won't be like that. At all.

And it wasn't a crash fgs. Up your game BBC.

Many media outlets are now recognising that Israel is committing genocide - but still not identifying what governments should be doing to stop it. Me on the new stage of denial.

The dam of Gaza genocide denial has well and truly broken. While Israel’s supporters in the West still reject the charge, many media outlets are now coming off the fence.

Remembering Srebrenica must go hand in hand with opposing the genocide in Gaza, I argue in this new article. The one cannot be used to deny the other.

This is a good piece on how Blue Labour has turned MAGA, but it overlooks the clue in the original naming: ‘blue’ meant ‘conservative’ and BL has shared in the general deformation of conservativism in the last decade.
