We hope this collection will help to reintroduce Warren's work to a new generation of scholars and activists who are interested in city life and its possibilities.
bigcitypolitics.bsky.social
In addition to our introduction, the collection contains 17 contributions from people who knew Warren personally, collaborated with him, and have been influenced by his work.

This extends our OA paper "The Development of the Urban-Rural Cleavage in Anglo-American Democracies" published in @cpsjournal.bsky.social last year. We found that the urban-rural divide is bigger in the US and the UK than it is in Canada. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

Out now (OA) in @electoralstudies.bsky.social. Do people in rural areas want politicians offering stronger representation to rural areas - as opposed to just their local area? Yes - based an original conjoint experiment in the UK (1/5)

6/6 🧵In @thejop.bsky.social @bigcitypolitics.bsky.social & Armstrong study elite conflict using councilors' roll-call votes. Original dataset over many terms in Chicago & Toronto. Against a pluralist expectation, councilors’ conflict is low-dimensional but durable across terms doi.org/pfvb

Congratulations, Sebastián! It's a fantastic paper.

Super glad to finally see this out! We will post updated results through the end of the most recent council terms in a blog post soon.

Happy to have our new paper out in EJPR (with @jacklucas.bsky.social, Tyler Romualdi, Zack Taylor, Dave Armstrong and Katie McCoy). Has Canadian urban-rural *policy* disagreement widened since the 1990s? We find little evidence it has.👇 for more.

New paper on urban-rural policy divides. We use 456 unique issue questions from 1993-present to show (1) large & persistent urban-rural issue divides, (2) especially large divides in cultural policy, and (3) no evidence that divides have grown over time. ejpr.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

Urban–rural cleavages are seen as a defining political divide. But does this polarization hold worldwide? My new working paper tests this question using an original dataset of granular, geocoded election returns from 106 countries (polling station-level in 70). (1/8)
