Here's a good lesson for creative folks:

My wife loves handmade bowls. At the last art fair we went to, we got to talking to a potter, and he admitted that the bowls he sells are intentionally "90% perfect."

He wasn't being lazy. He just knows that "too perfect" bowls actually sell less!

Goodnight from Sadie Stowen, making condensation sigils on the windows of the Red House Transport Cafe. Goodnight from Sarah Hartley, certain something from the silver nitrate glass negatives she handled at the Pentlow Archive has followed her home. Goodnight from Hookland.

What Stalks the Deep (Sworn Soldier #3), T. Kingfisher (2025). Pokes at the abandoned mine and "ancient inhuman intelligence buried in the ice" tropes, but it goes some pleasantly unexpected way. A more peaceful and life-affirming ending than one might expect. #AmReading #BooksRead #BookSky #Books

She disconcerted her relatives, she knew. Where they moved through the world with pomp and circumstance, she preferred to move with #verve and, if she was lucky, delight. They were mostly resigned to it because they thought it was just her nature. But sometimes? It took a plan. #vss365 #MicroFiction

In 2019 when I was interviewing for the job of anti-surveillance activist at EFF I was asked what is biggest civil liberties threat that no is talking about yet---and my answer at the time was Ring. Given the general climate and its capabilities, it's even worse now.

Get. Rid. Of. Your. Ring.
Ring's Facial Recognition Sparks Privacy Backlash Among Customers - Phandroid
Amazon's new Ring feature uses facial recognition to identify visitors, prompting customers to cancel subscriptions over privacy concerns.

It's tough being a #libertine in a 2-person orbiting spacecraft that smells like feet and burnt steak, but somehow he manages it. I know *that* craft isn't rated for orgies, but he's buying extra O₂ for a reason. I don't ask how he got the creds. I really don't want to know. #vss365 #MicroFiction

From AP: Hair museum filled with century-old mementos closes its doors, scattering contents around the nation

abject horror, clown-level, seeped into my bones upon learning there is a) a hair museum, b) the hair is now everywhere. HAIR.

A #clash of swords rang in the boarding passage in the leviathan's gills. She shuddered, old bullet scars puckering as she shivered beneath armored flesh.

He patted her side. "It's okay, girl. No guns."

He hoped it was true. A maddened leviathan would kill them all.

Morning arrived like an invasion of piranha moths—one second you’re gazing wistfully out to sea from the widow’s walk atop your home, swathed in casual but elegant layers of dark wool. The next, you hear the sounds of thousands of tiny wings…then hey, presto, a chill wind on your nethers. #BadNoir
