It’s impossible to overstate how much “abolish ice” is the normie position now here in chicago — just countless random moms at toddler soccer on a park district field asking me where I bought my anti-ice t-shirt. average people don’t like our neighborhoods being terrorized.

A friend ran the Chicago marathon today and said he couldn’t count the number of FUCK ICE signs along the way.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

Thank you. You're very kind and I really appreciate the insight.

I think what I've done probably sacrifices art in the name of realism ... which means I need to go buy more yellow beads. 🤣🫣

Somehow I *always* need to buy more beads. 🫠😂

Most of these people are deeply trained, or at least highly educated, in humanities. Knowing isn’t being.

Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

Some people might laugh but there's something actually important in this as I have heard others talk about how a fear of dying is palpable among fascists. They carry hell with them in real life.

Interesting! Is it just the row bordering the green or both that and the next shade in?

Daffodils do come in all sorts of shades, so I can take it brighter ... I'm just not a fan of yellow, so I think I gravitate to the paler shades.

You're probably right that higher contrast would be prettier!
absurdities.bsky.social
Definitely! That's a great point and probably part of why I don't like it as much. 🤣

I do want to center the flower. The friend I'm making it for loves daffodils (he took that photo) and I'll have more green elsewhere in the piece.

Basically, I'm doing a version of this, but daffodil-esque.
A hexagonal piece of beadwork with a "flower" type design. The flower petals are shades of pink and purple with white accents. Green sections around the outside imply leaves.

Hivemind, I could use some color input. Inspo pic on the right.

Do I not like my interpretation because I don't enjoy yellow or because I need different yellows?

A beaded triangle. The top section is a gradient of green tones. The bottom two sections are four shades of yellow, the palest at the top, getting more vibrant and intensely yellow toward the bottom. A clump of daffodils growing outside. The centers are a bright yellow and the petals fade to lighter shades of yellow at the edges.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

ICE drag girl out of car & body slam her to ground—then pin her face down & kneel on her neck.

"I'm 15!" she cries out. "I'm not resisting!"

Agents have now asked multiple area housing associations to unlock main doors—so they can go door to door.

It's utterly devastating to see decades of progress for the disability community being wiped out in just a few months.

There was of course much work to be done, but now that effort will have to be devoted to clawing back the gains now being ripped away.

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.

The one closest to me is just always slammed. "Perk" of being disabled - I can go any time. It's always impossible.

It's the only one in the city proper and I'm just not willing to circle the parking lot and fight for a space. It's both faster and less stressful to just drive an extra 6 miles.
absurdities.bsky.social
I agree that the parking lots match the stores, but the # of stores doesn't match demand. After 4/5 attempts to go to the one ~2 miles from me resulted in leaving without ever parking my car, I've started going to one in the burbs, with ample parking. Currently 3/3 on getting groceries as planned.
brooklynspoke.bsky.social
One of these days we'll do an episode on why the parking lots at Trader Joe's are small. tl;dr: the stores themselves are small compared to other grocery stores which helps them find locations where they don't have to supply massive amounts of parking as mandated by local parking requirements.

Do it!! It's just 24 peyote triangles with added borders and hinges! I had so much fun with it.

This made it super easy (just know the hinges on face 2 will be visible on face 4 -- I would've chosen different colors had I known):

FWIW, I mostly (aside from the last face) followed the tutorial on Off the Beaded Path on YT. Super easy to follow. My only quibble is I wish I'd known the hinges (attached to face 2) are also visible on face 4. I would've chosen different colors.

I've already started another. It's super fun!

That's wild. If you know anything about ICE agents, looking scared, changing your demeanor, etc are eminently reasonable reactions
thematthill.bsky.social
Wow. Greg Bovino admits on camera that his agents can detain people if you look scared, change your demeanor, or grip a steering wheel too tight.

As his unmasked agents walk around with large guns to scare you, they may arrest you just for that — even if you're a U.S. citizen.

Thank you! The woman who made the pattern (Kate McKinnon) is an absolute genius. I just added color, a little skill, and a lot of labor. 😂
