I'll be honest, I'm really not quite sure what the alternative is

However I do strongly believe that whatever it might be has to somehow come through a consensus among Trans+ folk rather than cisgender rooted medicalised language

The undeniable way in which cisgender clinicians and staff have, for generations now - gatekept Trans+ people's access to meaningful Trans healthcare suggests otherwise (imo)

Cis clinicians - declaring themselves “experts” - with their medical language bleeding unchecked into public narratives

Now cis people use that language to dehumanise Trans+ folk

Trans+ people are the real experts - they deserve control over language thats about them and their lives

I'd go a step further and not frame it as a personal 'transition'

It's more like it's cisgender society's 'transition' towards understanding someone differently than the way they previously did

Trans+ people access Trans Healthcare to be themselves - that’s it - it's that simple
