I knew who I was this morning, but I’ve changed a few times (and platforms) since then. I regret to report I still have a lot of opinions. Hobbies: writing, horror, cheese.

They sure as shit did. And the army tested new-fangled biplanes on the Blair Mountain strikers by bombing the shit out of them. Known "hero" Billy Mitchell led that sortie.
They hanged the people who got us the 8-hour workday.
If people actually understood how willing our government is to go to war with its own people simply for demanding equal rights, I think a lot more of us would be ready for war.

We're seeing a massive institutional deportation and state violence apparatus being built and it honestly feels like people dont grasp the sheer scale of it and what already is in place. For every horrific video of masked feds kidnapping people there are so many people pushing paper to help.
NEW: ICE is planning to build a shadow deportation network in Texas. A proposal outlines a 24/7 transport operation run by armed contractors—turning Texas into the logistical backbone of an industrialized deportation machine.

Because we have fascists and pedophiles who will stop at nothing to retain power running our country and, apparently, nobody is capable of doing anything to stop them 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe we should try the monarchy back on for size after all, idk.

Hey reporters 👋 I’ve been monitoring Nick Fuentes & the groypers since 2019.

Please feel free to reach out if you’re writing about his appearance on Tucker Carlson. I’ve helped dozens of reporters contextualize Nick & his movement over the years.

The Jan 6 insurrection was successful, & now it gets to be preserved as a success by this administration it brought to power.

Welch: "This has nothing to do with the shutdown. The law requires and the funds are available to continue SNAP right now without any interruption. So that is a decision the president is making on his own to allow people to go hungry."

There is not a single day that goes by that i don't think about the vast majority of Americans reading below a sixth grade level
I’ve been thinking a lot about a new kind of polling I’d like to see. We have polling that measures public opinion, which is obviously important, but I’d love to see a little more empirical work on public knowledge: what do voters know about politics and policy?
DHS and Elon not realizing they are actually the Orcs in Tolkien’s world would be funny if not for, ya know, everything else.

If you need to explain to an idiot why Tolkien would have despised these goons, I have already grabbed a picture of the relevant passage (and I doubt I was the first):
Police standing by while men in plain clothes drag off a screaming woman is exactly what I’d expect from the police - but I am fucking FLOORED this happened in an airport, a place that will literally have you locked up on 5 federal charges for acting even slightly foolish.
I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.
I had no idea they remade The Monkey this year. Good lord.

Where has this year gone? What had been going on??
I can’t believe how many people are still reading and watching hunger games sequels after whatsherface ended the original trilogy the way she did. Fuck her and all that noise lol.

I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.
Yes, I ever so briefly got up there for the same reason and hated it. Lasted less than a month myself.

There's a phenomenon where when you jump from Substack to Ghost, for example, you get a bunch of unsubscribes because people start to actually receive your newsletter instead of it getting tracked to spam from Substack.
Here’s an article from Tyler Denk back in August that is just one peak behind the curtain for anyone who is interested: mail.bigdeskenergy.com/p/substack-j...
Substack just killed the creator economy

And if you didn’t click thru to see the post Ryan quoted above: bsky.app/profile/lyz....
For years, this man has profited of off writers and refused to listen when they said “Hey this platform and its changes aren’t working for us.” Now he’s throwing a tantrum when those writers leave. Because he thinks no other platform will love them as much as him.
Amazingly on time posts in my feed just now: bsky.app/profile/ryan...
Getting off Substack is the right move. I would compare it to moving from an app like Garageband to Ableton or Logic. Or switching from clip art to creative stock images. My business has grown. My readership has grown. Substack fills your list with junk signups, takes your money, and holds you back.

Evergreen.
(Also this is Ronald Reagan’s fault.)
There’s been a few articles this year about how they’re changing some of their backend logistics (at least in the US) and it’s going to make it nearly impossible for creators to leave with their subscribers. Can’t express how important it is for folks to go ahead and GO if they plan to.
