The number of comments on this post that describe US Citizens getting racially profiled and held.... In one case a native american who was told that her tribal id "wasn't real" and was kept for two weeks.

The Kavanaugh "Brief Stops" are a total betrayal of our civil rights as Americans.

The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murder—a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

The enormous hypocrisy of “celibates” who live double lives and preach against the LGBT community is a vicious reality, and I hope that someday, they can begin to repair for what they’ve done by being honest with themselves and the world about who they are.

I do think that, if you are closeted, coming out is generally the better option. Unless you are in a situation where your or others’ safety will be at risk, it’s much freer (if sometimes harder) to live with this type of honesty. I would especially urge all clergy to come out.

I came out to myself as a teenager, then a few friends and close family sporadically for several years. But I didn’t decide to go public until 2020, when I was 25. Part of me regrets waiting as long as I did, but part of me understands that there is no “wrong” time to come out.
