Less cryptically: I’m on the baricitinib trial and the last two weeks have been … surprising.

I feel so, so bad for them. Speaking personally, and being rather cryptic for the time being, “relapse” is not a word I ever want to see

Bluesky wasn’t letting me on for a day or so. Not a suspension— the app wouldn’t load at all. I’m back.

Same here. Prior to Long Covid, I truly loved academic writing. Now i can’t do it; the complex attention it requires, esp. as y’all noted at the editorial phase, makes me feel ill and triggers major PEM. I can only write short notes, song lyrics, poetry: things I can see on a single page. Fragments.

God I feel this. I was a decent writer pre-ME, not because I’m a good writer but because I’m a good editor.

And now editing is one of the fastest ways for me to trigger PEM.

Now, I cannot write more than a few lines or else I get deeply deeply ill, sometimes for weeks. It has been one of the biggest heartbreaks. I miss using my desktop, and my pen and paper, and my brain. This is something I genuinely cry over. Weep. I miss writing, analyzing, and thinking so much.

Ultimately, we hope this work not only contributes both to a reliable diagnostic tool and a deeper understanding of ME/CFS but also continues to bring understanding of the biological problems that result in the lived experiences of these patients”

The scary part is that if ole boy was half a second slower on his bike, he could have wound up in South Sudan.

Really important topic.

It’s a great day to donate to @thesicktimes.org. Nowhere else is gathering this critical information for people who have Long Covid—or anyone who might get it, which a new NIH incidence study says is at least 1 in 20 people who get Covid.

“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

🔬 A new study sheds light on why people with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) experience post-exertional crashes and brain fog.

It focuses on a blood protein called haptoglobin (Hp) and how its different genetic forms affect symptoms. 🧵
